Ok, give us the back story on how this tradition started and shite. 
I know a group of guys who started passing up old arse trophies to a float and the float gives this some bullshite back. I witnessed it several years ago and now that I've ridden, I realize there are a lot of stupid arse fun traditions like this.

It all started back in 1982 when 2 guys got a po-boy before the parade. They were laughing and joking about when the waitress aske them if they wanted 'extra mayo.' So it kind of became an inside joke amongst friends to get extra throws along the route.

Most of the people have retired early, with disposable income. Not to be boastful, but we are in that demographic.
