Was in 2nd grade when it happened. I just got called on to read, when the principal said in the most sombering voice telling every teacher to cut on the tv.
We had no school that day. We watched it the entire school day. When my dad picked me up, it was on at every location we went to; the bank, Dairy Queen, church. Even at home, it seemed like the only channel that wasn't doing 9/11 coverage was Cartoon Network.
I had nightmares everyday for at least 2 weeks after. I'm still somewhat mad that school basically shut down that day. I understand that the teachers were in basically no mood to teach that day, but that shite scarred the mess out of me at the time.

That video gives me chills. Best first pitch of all time.
That was before politics got ruined by the media & social media. Can you imagine if 911 happened again and Trump went to throw the first pitch in New York. Stadium would be filled with boos. Cause you know, putting national security as a priority is racist now.

I don't need to see all that shite all over again. Muslims came to frick with us and we put a bunch of them in the ground and ran their shite. That's all.
Yet here you are, posting in this thread. People like to reflect and remember, and part of that is looking at the images of that day, even though they are painful and disturbing.

I still am trying/want to remember the name of hte poster that we have/had here whose dad was in one of the towers. Poster was about 15-16 at the time. Would love to know how he's doing.
Anyone else here know anyone in the towers or in the area?

Do you remember the poster that posts every year in these threads his recollection of that day and driving back into his office that day. I think his office was in Manhattan.
I always enjoy reading his story.

For example, there was a guy overslept after staying up late watching Monday Night Football. He was running late and that most likely resulted in him living.
That happened to my cousin. She had a meeting that morning, I just can't remember if it was in one of the towers or a building nearby.
Overslept her alarm and woke up to see it on TV.

Yeah, for sure. This is what some of the non-news channels looked like:
ESPN
MTV
This is what channels like Food Network, HGTV and Lifetime did:

WTC Modern Marvels
This Modern Marvels was scheduled to be aired around 9/11. To hear the builders talking about the buildings being able to withstand a shot from a 737 is creepy as hell.
The fact they stayed up as long as they did after being hit was a testament to the robust nature of the construction.
The only people that did not have time to get out were the people trapped above the impact points and the first responders trying to get to them.

I forgot about him and yes I do remember that.
This other guy was like I said 15 or 16 when it happened. Unless he pulled a stunt and was lying but I kind of doubt it.

No it wouldn't. shite, I would guess that more than half of the people in the stadium that day voted for "the other guy". But it wasn't about that in that moment.
Now that being said, Trump is the most polarizing president we've ever had, but again...it's not about the person, it's about the country and the people in that moment.

From the CDC website. Amazing if accurate.

The failure to start evacuating the south tower immediately after the north tower was hit was incredibly sad.
