1. Females are biologically predisposed to be the check on men's interest to dump as much seed as possible, because women have a limited number of eggs. May be crappy, but it's it nearly every mammal species on the planet, it works the same way.
2. If you're off of the parental payroll (generally), your bodycount is your business. However, (I don't know how old you are), bodycount is a thing in Junior High. This absolutely horrifies any dude which thought about what his mind was like in Junior High, let alone HS/College.

Is it a great idea for women's self esteem? Probably not, but men have almost no feelings. Body count isn't a problem for men, per se, it's a problem for women, *by* women.

A guy only gets sex if there is a Yes involved. Women control the Yes. So if women had to display their body count, several things immediately happen
1) Lots of Nos start getting handed out
2) Many men will lose interest, due to the lack of a challenge. I mean how many guys are bringing a date to the office social with a 171 displayed?
3) Adultery becomes almost nonexistent. Hard to leave for work one morning with a 1, and then show up for dinner sporting a 2. That would make for some fun dinner conversation
