Not one to mince words, Old Hickory.

quote:

source of this interest has been Buchanan's close and intimate relationship with William Rufus King (who became Vice President under Franklin Pierce). The two men lived together in a Washington boardinghouse for 10 years from 1834 until King's departure for France in 1844. King referred to the relationship as a "communion",[92] and the two attended social functions together. Contemporaries also noted the closeness. Andrew Jackson called them "Miss Nancy" and "Aunt Fancy"

America was better when someone could be gay in their own life and no one gave a frick.

Too many people looking for something to be offended about. On both sides.

King was one of the biggest slave owners at the time in Alabama and gay so what do liberals do with him?

This is a well known, but ignored, part of history because it doesn't fit well with the narrative.

Not really anything to see here. Such relations were common between men in those times. People try to use a similar arrangement to call Lincoln a queer. I doubt you could get the statement out of your mouth before he knocked you cold.

The circumstantial evidence is pretty strong for Buchanan and King

The difference is the only "evidence" against Lincoln is that he slept in the same bed as another man. This was a fairly common practice due to the shortage of beds. Also beds were much bigger in those days -- it's not like you were right on top of the guy.

This was still being done as late as the WWI era. The roommate of Giants pitcher Rube Marquard got a clause put in his contract that when the team was on the road Marquard was banned from eating animal crackers in bed.

Gay people have been around for a long time. But they worked hard and acted like normal men instead of whining and acting like women

The OT says this about fricking everything. I can't tell you how many times someone and said oh well they don't teach that in high school or college because it doesn't fit with the liberal agenda or some shite like that. And they are always wrong. I was a history major I've taught middle school and high school history (academic and AP).

It is not ignored. The same can be said about the fifty other things you people complain about not being taught.

There are plenty of gay dudes who act the same way today. Some you would never know are gay unless you know them personally. I have a cousin like that. We all know that he's gay because he's family but anyone who didn't know him would have no clue. More masculine than me at times.
