Such a heart breaking disease for Family members, and all new break thrus in the disease are greatly appreciated.

An experimental blood test was highly accurate at distinguishing people with Alzheimer’s disease from those without it in several studies, boosting hopes that there soon may be a simple way to help diagnose this most common form of dementia.

God I hope we can eliminate this disease in my lifetime. I don’t know how you combat prions though.

Would be good to get diagnosed before symptoms and maybe possibly treat it earlier. Even if it only adds a year or 2 to being symptom free or less severe that would be nice. Hopefully they can improve on treatments one day

From someone who's Dad and Granddad had Alzheimer's, I'm really wanting to find a cure, but what big gain is there in just identifying Alzheimer's?

if the cure is linked to aluminum poisoning as many believe, then we'll know to focus on detoxifying and maybe commercially cut back on aluminum being used in every single product there is.

My mother's side of the family have all had Alzheimer's .. she got tested for the gene and knows that she has it. Somehow, I did not get it. Can't say that I'm sad.

Well the big gain that I see is that people can prepare their papers and affairs while they can and adjust as necessary. Maybe this new finding will lead to treatments/eventual cures?

Maybe, but there still is nothing that's really done about it. Only some mind altering drugs that just make people act differently

Seems like any progress is good when searching for cure.
