If you want a laugh, look at how Cesar Chavez aka 1st Street is technically signed - Loop 1! The only loop I have ever seen with zero grade separation, 7 stoplights in one mile and active pedestrian crosswalks.

Exactly. The whole "IT'S LIBERAL!" thing is so overblown by guys who have a double digit IQ and never left their hometown. It looks very liberal because it's a tiny bubble in an otherwise extremely Red region. In reality, it isn't bad at all. A nice mix of conservatives and liberals will happen naturally in a city of that size.

Okay...if Baton Rouge has everything that Austin has (except hipsters), why does Baton Rouge suck so bad and why is Austin so great?

First of all, Baton Rouge has plenty of hipsters.
Second of all, Baton Rouge is lacking in 95% of the things that make Austin desirable. BR has about the same weather and a comparable college scene (though UT-Austin is much better academically). That's about where the comparisons end.

My comment has nothing to do with BR. To say Austin is great and growing because of the hipsters is just stupid.

You can't assign it 100% to the "hipsters", but the influx and the idea that Austin was a cool town for younger people, is certainly one of the reasons why Austin is growing so rapidly

come at me bro, i live and breathe this city and i can tell you its NOTHING like BR or NOLA or HOUSTON or ATLANTA...its a damn paradise.
arguing statistics are wrong because your perception is different. People living in NOLA do the same but that doesn't change the fact that violent crime is high.

That might raise awareness but you stay for other reasons. Hill country, jobs, outdoor activities, etc.

a poor man's LA with shittier weather, and no ocean. Austin 30-40 years ago was likely amazing without the over population, now...no thanks. it's still a great city to visit, but i'd never want to live there.

Fair point, but it does the job to avoid driving through Austin.
If you wanted, you could take 130 > 45 > 183 > 360 > 290 and call it a loop.
