Yazoo City has a history of crime, but luckily one guy was able to find forgiveness after robbing the Piggly Wiggly.

literally the only good thing about D-ville

And Tchula, MS is much worse than Yazoo City itself. I was in Tchula one time and I heard a little kid say, "Ma, I'm bored" and she handed him a stick and said, "Go play in the mud". A little while later when I drove by sure enough he was out in front of the house poking a stick in a big muddy hole

Meh. Alabama's highest ranked is Bessemer, which is largely a ghetto area of Birmingham. Are other cities on this list cherry picked " suburban" areas of a larger metro area?

Robstown, Texas, has one of the worst job markets of any U.S. city. The city’s five year unemployment rate of 20% is nearly quadruple the comparable 5.9% national rate. The high jobless rate has likely contributed to the widespread poverty in the city. Robstown’s poverty rate is a staggering 41.1%.

Close proximity to a hospital can mean the difference between life and death for many who may need emergency medical services. However, the nearest hospital from the center of Robstown is nearly 17 miles away.

This place isn't far from me but I've never been. Everyone always jokes about it being the ghetto though.

I haven’t live in South Texas for 15 years, but Robstown is between Corpus Christi and Alice. It was a farming community (the high school nickname was the Cottonpickers). Many of the people used to work in the oilfield out of cities like Alice. Most service companies moved out of Alice to San Antonio as the Eagle Ford Shale play began booming.

Granted the nearest hospital is 17 miles away, but that is not so bad when you can get there quicker compared to sitting in traffic in Houston.

Beecher MI is essentially a part of Lansing.

And Lansing is a known shithole that should be on the list.

Noticing a trend.

Not a lot of Asians in either city.

I know Mayor Leroy- good dude actually. But Donaldsonville is an unrelenting shitehole. It feels malevolent at night, everybody walking around in the shadows, people walking up on you in those neighborhoods in the middle of town, people hanging out at the car wash, etc. When I was a kid it was actually considered kind of quaint and charming.

Whomever made this list needs to spend more time out west, specifically in SE CO and NE NM, or perhaps those shitholes were too small to make the list.

I grew up in the rural south and was like WTF when I saw some of those places.

Or in Appalachia. I've been to much worse places than a few of the towns on here. Most of them are pretty bad though.

Wut? It’s not great but it isn’t worst by far. I used to live there

Just in the delta alone Greenville, Clarksdale, Belzoni are way shittier. Not including the smaller towns of 1500 or less people that are all complete shite

They have Perry, GA ranked on their list, but their criteria is shite. Houston County has one of the better school systems in Georgia and crime is relatively low, but Macon, GA isn't on the list and it is one of the worst cities in Georgia to live.

Amen brother!

I would argue though that Seymour or Sparta are pretty shitty towns in their own right that could go head to head with the ones in this list.

Not so long ago Donaldsonville was a great place to live. Two things led to its demise. The first was the construction of I10 on the east side of the river, the next was the introduction of Section 8 housing. Many like myself who didn't desire to work in one of the local plants moved out to find work in BR, NOLA, or out of state. It was a great place to grow up, but it's glory days are well behind it. Sad to see.
