This is government problem, not a gun problem.
I can give you an example of a woman that has a restraining order against an ex and he would not obey it. The woman went to buy a gun for protection and the purchase was delayed, for "safety purposes". Before she could get the firearm that she had legally purchased the ex killed her.
This is true. Can not disagree. Years ago we had a student worker in our office. He was a good kid, kind of quiet, but joked around with us, did his job. Was in college... He lived with his parents who didn't live in the best area.
A few times he had come to work skinned up, one time had bandages on his hand. He told us he fell off of his cousin's motorcycle. One morning I go into work. Me and my boss use to be the first ones at work in the morning.. I get in and my boss tells me "_______ shot and killed someone last night and is in jail".
At first I thought he was joking, because he just wasn't that type of person. But he goes on to tell me that there were some people in his neighborhood who had been messing with him, it was something ongoing and they had jumped him a few times.
On that night, they jumped him... He ran inside, grabbed his gun and went back out and shot the main one that was messing with him. He is in Angola with life, no parole. We found a half filled out gun permit form and the right to conceal permit in his desk.
If he was legally able to carry a gun.. And they jumped him.. He pulls out the gun and shoots, thats self defense. Because he had a gun inside (one he bought illegally) and made the decision to go get the gun and go back outside to shoot (and killed) the main one who was messing with him... Second degree murder.
It is a lot easier, for many people, to get a gun illegally. I know if I needed a gun in a hurry, it would be a lot easier to go to someone I know to borrow one of theirs than to go buy one. There isn't a perfect system. But if there is someone who is obviously disturbed. Who has been diagnosed with some type of mental condition. Someone, who if they came ask you to borrow your gun, you would absolutely tell them no because there is no telling what they plan on doing.. They need to be flagged from buying weapons.
With that said, there are ways to make weapons. Make a bomb out of a pressure cooker, etc, etc.. But not everyone knows how to or would take the time to look it up so I'd rather not make it easy for those people to be able to get a gun because they are a threat to the public.

I swear you post the most long winded, unrelated, ridiculous stories I’ve ever seen. Faulkner gets to the point more quickly than you.
Your story provides absolutely no substance to the gun control debate and just brings the attention onto you.

Can someone tell me who Boomer is?
Baby Boomer. See, when a young leftist never leaves the streets of New York or Burb in California, you will be labelled a Boomer because your ideas are old and conservative.
Likewise, Zip Monkey has never ventured outside of his podunk county line to realize every non-ultra right wing thought doesn't make you a millennial.

Biden wants to ban sales of guns. Why is it a large leap to see him calling confiscation once dale becomes illegal?
Some context that I think you choose to conveniently ignore... all sales of all guns?
I'll hang up and listen.

Why ban one gun and not another?

Because you address the problem, not the tool. You ban one tool, another will be used.
Cars. Explosives. All kinds of fun ways to kill lots of people easily.
Stop being purposely obtuse. Cars serve a massive public benefit and are not manufactured with the sole intent of killing.
Explosives are highly regulated from a sales perspective and nearly impossible to obtain legally. When was the last time you saw C4 and dynamite on the shelves in Walmart?

I was lead to believe these candidates want to confiscate all guns and ban the sale of all guns. Are you admitting that is not the case? (It's not)
That's why these discussions are pointless. A large swath of this board refuses to acknowledge the simple facts, instead espousing half truths or outright lies.

I did mis read Biden’s campaign pitch. He wants to ban all sales of “assault weapons” but we also know how loose that term is and basically comes down to does that gun look scary.
What simple facts does this board ignore?

Did they vote to confiscate them?

Hope they buy more. The libs are mentally deficient.

What are your simple facts?

I tried to get my son a 22 but the dumbass at academy scratched the shite out of the only one they had when he was cutting a zip tie.

Some pretty dense people up in here.
Simple fact: NO candidate has said they are going to confiscate all guns or ban the sale of all guns...despite many in this thread attempting to claim just that. Feigning stupidity does not make what I said any less true.

Please guvnah, might you tell us plebes what firearms we might possess, if it pleases the crown?
ETA: And it's cute you're naive enough to think they'll stop with "assault" weapons.
But then again you agree with them, so nevermind.

The ole slippery slope response.
It's worthy of discussion, but stop using lies to try and skew the truth. No one has said they plan to confiscate or stop the sale of all guns.
The candidates all know the Constitution and they know that's not happening.

All of them have put forward a plan to stop the sale of "assault" guns. That's stopping the sale of guns. Period.
And as i stated earlier in this thread, the leading Dem candidate, and most "moderate" on this issue, has on top of saying he would ban "assault" weapons, say he would require the mandatory registration of these weapons. What do you think happens when you refuse to register your weapons?

They all know the constitution, and they could give two flying fricks about it. Just like all politicians today.
Individual rights are sooooooo last century.

So stopping the sale of some guns is stopping the sale of all guns?
The Constitution guarantees the right to keep and bear arms. It does not guarantee the right to obtain said arms with little to no hoops to obtain them. There have been some restrictions and vetting in place for a long time now, so please stop with the "I need to be able to get my guns more easier!" bullshite.
Now you're going from claiming that they're going to take all your guns to they're going to create more regulations around obtaining them or accessing them on the secondary market. The first one is false, the second one is what many are arguing in favor of (myself included).
