Everybody in this thread came to talk about aliens.

Can we pause for a moment to admire the phenomenon that was Will Smith in the late 90s? I was trying to explain to my nine year old how, at any given time in 1997, you could flip through the radio and find MiB playing on at least one station. And then he followed it up with Wild Wild West. And that movie was terrible, but that damn song just was everywhere.
You could argue Will Smith might own the last two phenomenon songs ever.
Where do we get the stuff you are smoking?

At this point, I would welcome our new alien overlords.
Ha Ha! Jokes on them when they ask to be taken to our leader.

Sounds like White Sands forgot about the commercial airliner flying in their airspace at the time and the plane was almost an unintended target for a missile.
This. Ask Iran what happened when some idiot mistook a commercial liner for something else.

According to Bob Lazar, there's an installation in Southern Colorado where they test alien technology that's too secret for Area 51.

Bob Lazar lied about his colleges he attended. He is nuts.

I hate to say this but it looked like a long cylindrical object that almost looked like a cruise missile type of thing moving really fast.
Coming home from San Diego non-stop to New Orleans after visiting one of my sons, I experienced a similar object.
Our commercial aircraft was over New Mexico heading roughy due east at cruising altitude of approximately 33,000 feet. Don't recall airspeed but we were moving at a good clip aided by tailwind. Clear skies and nearly unlimited visibility.
I was seated next to a port side window slightly fore the wing's leading edge. The aircraft was not full and most passengers had their windows shut and were napping or reading. I was reading and took a break to open my window and stare outside.
I got a quick glimpse of something, little more than a silver/gray [*spec] smudge at first, [*approaching] passing our aircraft, parallel to it, and blazing by it, very slightly tangentially, on our port side, moving from fore to aft, passing no more than 25 yards off our port wingtip. It was cruise missile "like", silver/gray, highly polished, unmarked, and silent insofar as I didn't hear anything from it over our engines.
Before I had time to react and recover from what I considered a near catastrophic mid-air collision, an unmarked Gulfstream, albeit unusually large in my estimation, also completely unmarked, passed us on the same heading and altitude as the "cruise missile" like aircraft seemingly in pursuit of it. It too passed perilously close to us.
I sketched what I saw in my notebook, logged time and location and such particulars that I could. My hand shaking made writing difficult. If anyone else saw it they didn't react that I was aware of.
The cockpit crew were not outside the cabin to greet the passengers deboarding which was unusual. No one seemed upset and I didn't hear any discussions about an "incident" so I kept my mouth shut.

its equally reasonable there would be no need resources from earth.
No, it's not. If they are coming here, it's likely for a purpose and that purpose would almost have to be resources. Peace and equality and truth and freedom make catchy slogans, but history says expansion is a bad thing for the natives.

That’s a stretch. Any resources, in the material sense, that can be found on Earth could almost certainly be found on other planets/asteroids that were a shorter trip and make more economic sense. A civilization with the technology to accomplish interstellar travel doesn’t need to mine Earth for its resources.
The exception would be if the planet itself is the resource in question - i.e. a habitable world for settlement.
That said, it’s just as likely that they would view life on Earth the same way humans view animals at the zoo. Maybe it turns out that intelligent life actually is exceedingly rare and they are curious. It’s silly to speak in absolutes as if resources are the only reason another civilization would visit Earth.

How can we rule out that Earth does not have some type of metal, or mineral that doesn’t exist elsewhere in the universe, we could be the only planet covered with water for all we know.

Yeah but are those planets inhabited by beings intelligent enough to extract and trade the resources for advanced technology?
We could be trading resources to aliens right now and never know. Could also explain why our technology has exploded, they may be slowly rolling out their tech to us with every delivery of resources.
I don’t necessarily believe this is the case but it’s interesting to think about.

The Pentagon has already released & acknowledged the tic-tac UFO footage or “unidentified aerial phenomenon” recorded by Navy pilots. They don’t know WTF it is.
What’s the FBI gonna add?

No, no you didn’t. You. Any look forward through the side windows on a commercial airliner, certainly not far enough forward to spot an object when it is just a spec. You should have gone with perpendicular. The one word, parallel, makes your story complete and obvious bs.
