I'd rather have lived here than in mexico or canada in the 1980s
And everything else outside of Japan which is too overcrowded, Europe seemed gay and Scandinavia..well, I may have liked that.
American samoa too..then I'd be tough.
But everything else out there may as well be the same.

A second parent is the difference between being brought up in a third world vs first world America
Children of divorce have a second world experience.

These studies that routinely put up Scandinavian countries as models to look up to are ridiculous.
My parents are immigrants and there is no way in hell I would have had the same economic and education opportunities in Iceland as I do here.
I don't understand what the purpose of these studies are-small homogeneous countries are better?

Interesting that they don’t count taxes as out of pocket health expenses.
Also, jokes on them. Democrats are against families anyway, so we are actually 2nd best in the world behind Mexico.

Yep. I couldn't imagine moving to Australia and publishing an article telling them how much they all suck

I guess all these immigrants aren't reading the study.

There are only 26 million people in all the Nordic countries. Less than the state of Texas. The comparisons in these type of studies are apples to oranges.

Not to mention how homogeneous they are.

But yea, this was also on reddit the other day and SURPRISINGLY, there were a lot of good critiques calling out the way the metrics were done. Usually that site jumps at a chance to bash the US

The study noted that the US is the only country that doesn’t require employers to offer maternity leave. Even worse, the average household blows 31.79% of their income on child care compared to the 4 to 10% spent by Scandinavian nations.
Ok cool. Now adjust for taxes on those Scandinavian bastards

Lol, sweden is working on that with open-immigration national suicide

So homogeneous countries with a tenth of the US population where nobody is poor are better places to live? Shocker.
