Probably due to the sheer amount of volume.

Yesterday I ordered something around 9am and it was at my house by 230pm
Does anyone in the BR area ever able to get same day? I don't recall ever having that option.. On average I might order something every 2 to 3 weeks so it could just be what I buy, but that would be nice if same day order is available.. I might have to look at what items are available for same day.

Have problems with FedEx where I live. Delivering to the wrong address, dropping pkgs, and pushing back deliveries are the norm. Amazon is really not a problem here especially when I don't have to drive all over BR and hope they have stock.

Another vote for shipping times being location dependent.
Up north in the summer I live in the sticks, easily 5-7 days is normal.
Florida in the winter in town, next day seems to be the norm, two day at the most usually.
It doesn't bother me generally, but Mrs Harrisontown bitches about it up there and raves about it down here.
Incidentally, the closest Walmart (yes, OT poor) is an hour away from me up north, and for dry goods walmartdotcom has been a superstar with shipping.
No subscription cost and orders over $35 shipping is free.

I think it depends on the product.

Amazon sells cheap Chinese crap, they sell placement on their website when you search, and the shipping is the same whether you have prime or not.
Not sure why anyone pays for prime unless they really like the TV shows

In the Baton Rouge area during the Christmas season, it seemed like Amazon cut way back on the money they spent on contract deliveries. I have driven for Amazon Flex occasionally for a couple of years. For the previous Christmas seasons, there were significantly more opportunities to choose from and the pay was much higher per hour.
This could be part of the reason deliveries are delayed lately. It seems slower deliveries in certain areas is a choice the decision makers at Amazon made. This could be related to optimizing company profitability or reacting to the inadequate drivers in certain areas.

We should start an OT company called Mississippi and only sell American stuff and have Mississippi prime that shows Mel Gibson movies

Is Amazon pulling a bait and switch? Have they "done away" with 2 day shipping? If so, that's bullshite and I will cancel.
I haven't gotten an order inside the Prime 2 day window since just before Covid.
There is a warehouse very close to me. The delivery times have gotten longer and longer since it opened.

Are you going to complain when free same-day shipping is normal in 5 years and you have to wait until tomorrow?
If I'm paying for cheap Chinese shite to be delivered in two days... It better be delivered in two days.

2 day shipping
My orders only take 2-3 days to be delivered…after the initial 2-3 days from the ordered date to the shipped date.

Prime is really no longer worth it. You don't get 2-day shipping, the streaming service has ads now, not sure what they're charging for at this point

I'm not a heavy amazon guy but I ordered 9 items Jan 10 and Jan 11.
I got all 9 items on 1/18 (4 business days).
All were free shipping WITHOUT prime.
I'm happy with that.

My orders sit there for 5 days bf shipping. Then I get in 2 days.

I'm not trolling, but I'm tired of the default delivery option being "5-9AM tomorrow." I'm cursed with having the distribution warehouse less than 2 miles away. I always go for "free digital rewards" for 3-5 day shipping except for once in a blue moon.
I always choose the "Amazon Delivery Day" option unless I need it urgently.
Gotta grab those "digital" rewards.
