They're daring me to phase myself out of the Amazon ecosystem altogether.

I canceled my Prime membership close to a year ago, and noticed no difference in my day-to-day doings. Their streaming options blow, and I can find all the same items on Walmart.com with free shipping and no membership required.

Hell I don't even belong to prime for the shipping perks. I use prime video all the time.

I also don't pinch pennies and worry about a 2 dollar a month increase.

Complain all you want. Even at $139, it's a far better deal than Netflix.

I loved Prime until COVID when packages were getting lost or taking two weeks for delivery. Now that we're way past peak COVID chaos, I still get maybe 25% of my packages MAX in two days.

Walmart+ is better/cheaper now (and grocery delivery is great)

The Amazon Prime credit card with 5% back on Amazon purchases and other cash back categories easily pays for the Prime Membership, too

It was only a matter of time that people started figuring out the score with cable cutting. The only benefit is the lack of a binding contract. Otherwise, you're almost certain to be paying nearly as much as you were for cable. They all know people will pay it, so they will keep jacking up the prices.

No you don’t, and it’s not really close.

^ this

I have been trying to talk the wife into cancelling, especially since 2 day shipping is now 7 day or maybe never shipping. And they inflate the prices because consumers think they are saving with shipping.

At Bass Pro or Walmart or wherever, you can still get free or super cheap shipping on almost anything. No subscription fee required, and the products aren't marked up to trick you.

What do we get for Prime these days? 2 day shipping is not happening around me anymore.

Prime is one of the best online deals around. For $11.60/month you get:

2 day shipping
Access to Prime Video (with possibly the largest video content online)
Prime Music, which has a large/respectable streaming music collection
Prime Reading, which has an OK streaming book collection

I think they still offer photo hosting, too

I just cut mine. 2022 price comparison-

YoutubeTV plus ATT Fiber = ~$120

Comcast Xfinity "X1" basic package with garbage internet = $202

I cut my cable years ago, and just use the phone as a wifi hotspot for all my internet at home. No streaming on the TV, just broadcast channels.

Waiting for 5G.

Prime is worth every penny for me. I get quick delivery, a decent selection of movies, and a ton of books. Not a bad deal.

Eventually people will cancel.

Case in point, I'm paying almost $100 a month in different streaming services. We are about to slash half of that due to these increase, and possibly even stop using prime.

This is actually what’s keeping me around. I have 10 years of photos store on Prime Photos that would be a pain for me to migrate.
