My bank sent me a fraud alert that $152.83 was trying to be charged from Amazon. I pulled up my Amazon account and didn't have any pending orders. I asked the bank if they thought it could possibly be the annual Prime membership charge - the girl chuckled a little and said, "No way. It's not that much!" I told the bank to kill the debit card.
A couple hours later, I googled: How much is Amazon Prime? Can you believe $ 139 and apparently they tax that amount which brings the total to: $ 152.83
What pisses me off is while I'm on the phone with the bank, I logged into my Amazon account and NO WHERE did it show a pending Amazon Prime charge.
frick them.

They keep it well-hidden and most people that use their Amazon store card will likely never notice it.

Well, i checked pending orders. There were none so frick EM. Don't try hiding your charges. And why apply sales tax to a membership???

I have the Amazon Prime card which gets you 5% back on Amazon Purchases. The credit I get back more than pays for the Prime fee.

I have never seen a prime membership charge shown in orders.
It's not an order--its a membership fee.

Because your state’s legislature forces them to charge sales tax.

Why would you check under orders for something that isn't an order?

What are you complaining about? You didn't order anything. It is an annual recurring charge for your Prime membership.

Why would it be in pending orders? There's a whole section on the website devoted to your Prime membership.

I do not use credit cards. I’m debit card (with a VISA logo) only.
Debit free - besides my house. It works for me.

Don't link anything on the internet to a debit card. There is much better fraud protection on credit cards and they create a layer of protection between your money and the internet.

Glad it works for you, but you are literally losing out on thousands a year if you keep no balance.
