Maybe a modern version of Service Merchandise. Come to the store to feel, handle and evaluate the items. If you like it, order via phone for home delivery. I would buy more stuff from Amazon if I could actually see it in person first. It would probably cut down on returns as well.

2 days? I can get same day now on items and they're trying to get to 1 hour.
We are in DFW and get almost everything same day if ordered before noon (unless it’s some off the wall shite).
Ordered something just now and was given a new option: “overnight 4a-8a”. Sure, why not.

how they attract staff in these brick and mortar locations remains to be seen.
Better pay and bonuses tied to metrics that will be hard to meet but when you do $$$$$
Walmart managers make $105,000 to $145,000 plus up to a 145% bonus. I know some that made over $300,000 last year and a lot that made $200,000.
Walmart managers can make more than some doctors and surgeons.

Not directly related but I wish someone would start a boutique sized store that can grow into a large scale store that sells only products made in the US. There is a huge market for that plus it supports American jobs from start to finish. Call it the Patriot Shop or something.

Even if true that compensation package is not typical for the average worker in these places.
You’re comparing apples and oranges.

Managing a WalMart store takes talent and few can do it. It is a big organization.
WalMart does pay very competitively for entry level workers too.

Good, need to to tie it to productivity.
I know a certain large hardware store that pays their management based on cutting operating costs and not their revenue. Guess what the biggest operating cost is? Employee compensation.

Are we going backwards?
amazing how efficient amazon is.

This is so stupid. People use Amazon BECAUSE it's online and no one wants Amazon brand stuff.

Or you can order online and have it delivered to your house which defeats this purpose. You can already get stuff delivered the next day or the same day in some places.

The amazon bookstore in Austin is nice.
80% of it is just a straight up bookstore, but they have a section with electronics (mostly amazon/ring branded stuff) and other random stuff that's sold on Amazon.
It's not a bad store, not sure how well the big ones will do though.

Remember all the “brick and mortar retail is dying” talk the last few years? Interesting timing with this considering online sales, not only for Amazon, but most retailers continues to grow every year.
Must be something they'd been experimenting with. I had no idea they even had B&M stores. Recently I went to the Mall of Americas and saw a small Amazon B&M in there.

i think you missed what i said.....you can have it shipped if you want. but there still is a market where people want to go see something first hand. and they are taking that market now. While doing that, these retial stores can also be local shipping hubs.
