I find the Walmart Neighborhood Markets very convenient and it's basically just the old Walmart before they went crazy and start putting in Super Walmarts everywhere

You got that backwards. The "old" Walmarts were strictly department stores and didn't sell groceries. The Neighborhood Market Walmarts are the exact opposite of that; strictly groceries.

That's why I like the place for a trip or two per month. It's nice pulling into the parking lot and there are no scraps of fried chicken and empty fast food bags laying around. People are parked correctly and driving the correct way down the lanes. There aren't a 100 cars scattered all over the place. There aren't idiots blocking the aisles and fatties on scooters. And despite what the baws claim of being able to get the same stuff at Walmart and Krogers at 50% cheaper, the meat, produce, cheese, and beer, etc are far better than the shite grocery stores. With that said, many local stores have stepped up their game in the last five years and do a much better job with having quality ingredients.

You sound racist my man.

no but if you don't return your shopping cart to the proper place, your prime membership will be revoked.

I love how this board shits on Whole Foods. As if you people have never shopped there.

I've only ever gone for the hot lunches, sandwiches, etc...They are pretty good.

Otherwise, I try to stay away from the hipsters

The ole hipster comment.
Unless you are shopping at one in old area of Austin and a few other stores around the country, I doubt there or many hipsters. Baton Rouge, Laffy, and Metairie WF sure as shite don't have hipsters in those stores.

I move at the end of the month, but haven't bought anything yet. We're looking in the River Ranch, West and East Bayou Parkway area.

When I use to think this board was filled with Libertarians I was always surprised with the hate that Whole Foods got given John Mackey's politics.

People crap on Whole Foods for the prices and the patrons that frequent the store, not the CEOs politics. Folks aren't going to shop at a store because the CEO doesn't agree with Obamacare.

Whole Foods demise has been predicted for years. Other grocery chains built specialty stores that mimicked the model and their core customers moved on to more specialized stores. The hipster looks at WF like the big giant chain that it is and opts to get their overpriced organic fix elsewhere.

This is Amazon's response to WalMart's online moves (online ordering, store pickup, etc.). Amazon realized they are at a significant competitive disadvantage to WalMart in this arena, and this move tries its best just to keep up.

In my mind, this isn't good news for the future of Amazon. It concedes that the best it can do (at least for now) is to settle for a niche of this market. If, however, you see Amazon start to build what essentially amount to food warehouses in local markets that offer no in-store sales, but rather serve merely as delivery and pick up centers, then that would mean Amazon is going after the whole thing.

They tried to pilot it and I believe they had issues with it.

The pilot store (GO) is still in beta test. That's why it's called a "beta" or "pilot"-to test out the format and dial it in before they run it out to the market.

When you see it in your market it will be well tested and running smoothly and fun to shop.
