If you're going to have a universal remote, it is hard to beat Harmony remotes. The help function has saved me countless arguments with my wife when she screws something up and can't get the system to turn on properly.

You won't know until you try it. That is the model in our den. We have a slightly different one (no touchscreen) in the bedroom. They also let you use your smart phone as the remote.

You put it on the charger when you are done watching TV, it makes "losing the remote" a thing of the past.
That being said I hate the remote. At least 75% of the time I turn everything on with the one-touch button, one of the devices is too slow to activate so it throws everything off. I then have to go one by one and toggle the power buttons until everything is synced.

I use a URC remote. It's much more configurable than the Harmony.
My wife on the other hand uses a Harmony and won't give it up for anything. It's an easy to configure and use remote.

I have the Harmony one. Had it since 2008. It's bad arse. They are truly universal. In the software, upon set up, you tell it your make and models and it pulls everything that the mfg remote comes with. It also ask you durning set up what do you want to do for "activities". So when your "watching TV" you want the TV to power on, the cable box, and receiver. It then ask what device controls the volume, what input to set the receiver too etc. You can do this for everything you have "watch a dvd, listen to music, watch Apple TV etc. once it's set, you touch the screen to "watch tv" and it cuts on the tv reciever, cable box and chooses the right input. You can set favorites on the touch screen and by touching that channels icon, it will tune to that Chanel. Makes it easy and cuts down on remotes. You can also control lighting as well. Well worth the cash
