I just wonder where they go to the bathroom. You couldn’t pay me to go to Times Square on New Years Eve.

I was about to ask--surely they must have porta-potties. But no, they did away with those in 2016 for security reasons (also people were having sex and doing drugs in them [trashy]).

So people just wiss themselves or poop themselves or go in a Gatorade bottle or on the street, etc. Or wear diapers.

What people won't put themselves through out of vanity. Eminence front, it's a put on.

Apparently crowds closer to home are more choice.

There is no way I would go there. That looks miserable.

A niece and her kids are currently visiting NYC and she posted this yesterday:

quote:

Times Square
- We learned that streets surrounding Times Square are blocked off starting at 1pm on NYE.
- Once you are ‘in’, there is no leaving.
- There are no carry in food or beverages allowed.
- Alll stores and restaurants close.
- There are no restrooms. I asked the obvious question and was told people wear diapers if going to be there all day/night.

Hey everyone’s into their own thing but I can certainly confirm I have zero. Less than zero desire to ever be in a crowd like this for any event on earth.

Don’t care what event. Never going. Now if you can get us a cool balcony in the mix with a nice view I’ll consider that.but on the ground among all that is insane.

I’m no bleeding heart, but this sounds just straight up cruel

The crowd is almost exclusively out-of-towners. I was one of them on New Year's Eve, 1999. I went just to be able to say I'd experienced it. We got there about 10:30 in the morning and by noon they had everything blocked off so that you couldn't get out and back in, so no going to the bathroom. I planned for this by not drinking anything all day.

I understand doing it once just to experience it, but that in no way sounds like a fun thing to do.

My wife’s former boss took his daughters a few years ago pre covid. They had a room on Times Square and the hotel had designated areas reserved for guests. Good idea right? Nope. They still stood there packed like cattle for almost 10 hours. No bathroom, no drinks. Couldn’t move. It was an awful experience.

We stayed in Times Square at a “ball drop” room in 2020. Problem was with Covid they only let 10,000 in the square at 8am that day. We left and did a food tour in the lower part of the city that morning. When we got back the cops would not let us back in to get to our hotel. We had to be one block from our hotel to get through the barricades. Problem was, how do you get a block from your hotel if every road is barricaded? I had to beg the cops at multiple barricades to let us through and somehow we got back to the hotel. Do not go to New York during a holiday. Or don’t go to New York City ever, it’s a tourist trap.
