Is it the first time I heard of him? Yes
Did he get ridiculed for wearing earplugs to a college football game? yes

Did I say anything about my opinion of his or his fans' beliefs? No. I don't need to know more about what a non-elected official believes.

Don't put your words in my mouth weirdo.

I'd heard of him, but forgot who he was/didn't remember until I looked him up after someone told me he'd been shot.

How do most people know who he is? Because most Americans choose to live in an echo chamber, and he reaches both chambers.

Anyone who halfway follows current events/politics has at least heard the name.

It's weird to me that so many Americans bury their heads in the sand with regards to current events and then seem "proud" of their ignorance to it.

It's weird to me that CK is the reference point for "educated & informed" regarding politics.

Guess that answers a lot of questions about the country.

He wasn't "the reference point", he was just one voice in the arena of public opinion.

You're implying he's the reference point; that if one didn't know who he was, one was uninformed/ignorant/etc and proud of it. He may be your reference point, and that's your choice. But your expectation that he's my reference point is indicative of the the country as a whole. Everyone here who has said they didn't know him or know much about him probably has a better perspective on things than you and your ardent right wingers or lib prog counterparts. On just about everything.

Not at all. I'm saying if you follow current events at all, then he was a notable enough voice in the arena for you to have at least heard the name, regardless of your involvement.

Ignorance is bliss.

I don't think folks should be hyper political, but they should at least know what's going on around them.

Same stupid argument. People who don't know CK don't know "what's going on around them". Slick, the people who don't know who CK or his lib prog counterparts (I can't even name one, but apparently you can) are interested in learning about policy decisions and debating the merits of this or that issue. We're not interested in finding personalities on the internet to worship.

My point is that in doing exactly what you laid out, you will hear the names of people like Charlie Kirk.

I couldn’t have pulled his name out of a hat.

I wouldn’t have been able to pick him out of a crowd.

I’ve spent some time watching his videos the past few days and can recognize that I have seen a short clip in passing online or a clip shared with me from a younger-early middle aged man in my life.

I simply wasn’t in his demographic of people he wanted to reach or people who would be particularly interested or entertained by his content.

I’m a woman, and no longer young enough to be surrounded by much younger men who would be his target audience. Kirk simply wasn’t floating though my algorithm before this.

I’m watching cooking videos, videos giving historic house renovation tips, or catching some videos by Allie Beth Stuckey (who I’ve learned was friends with Kirk),

I’m not apolitical or apathetic…he just wasn’t on my radar or in my algorithm.

1/6/21. If you are 100% right in your predictions then it is the equal and opposite reaction of that day. And if you are objective you cannot disagree. But I suspect you will get wrapped around the axel about 1/6/21 not being as unconstitutional as it truly was.
