I'm sad for them. Also, they have means.

It's rare that I would care about any wildfire that wasn't very close to my area, but this one is pretty high on the DGAF list. We all know that the coverage would be far less if the fire was in compton vs some super wealthy area.

Until the people of the Carolinas are taken care of I could care less about California. They voted for this.

I agree. Regular folks (even if they voted for the loons in charge) are in many cases left with nothing and will have to start over from scratch.

People like Paris Hilton will just buy more stuff, and have properties somewhere else they can move to. Most regular folks there don’t have anywhere to move to.

Key is treating the fire victims here like the Maui victims and the NC flooding victims. There are people in NC living in tents. If the government goes above and beyond for the Cali victims there should be a huge backlash.

You’re just a POS that’s jealous because other people are more successful than you.

A number of posters in this thread have stated folks from Louisiana are pieces of trash but Californians are Gods gift to the world (GreatLakes, George and Roger). My day tomorrow will be what it is regardless of what happens in California. I neither care about what’s going nor think they deserve it. Life can suck sometimes.

I hate it for the good folk but for all the Hollywood libs who voted for the policies to not build reservoirs due to the smelt fish or not doing controlled burns to protect field mice migration, well elections have consequences

They worked hard and are successful. It’s sad when anyone suffers imo.

Must be miserable to live your entire life through the lens of politics like the OP and many in this thread.

Seems like it sucks the life out of these people

In fairness, the other long thread on the OT right now, "California's Water Problem - Privately Owned by Resnick Family for Profit," reveals that particualr nefarious deal was made with Republican governors in the 1990s. The Resnicks then protected their "investment" by supporting every subsequent Governor regardless of party.

Not many intentionally vote for this BS.

Where are these politicians to choose from -- Liberal Democrats or Maga Republicans -- that aren't doing the bidding of their billionaire buddies?

I don't really feel that way. This notion that I don't "get" to live in Malibu and they do is not something that resonates with me. If I wanted to live somewhere else, I would.

I struggle with it to some degree. I hate seeing "Paris Hilton loses home in wildfires." Yea, well what about non-celebrities that probably don't have the resources that she does.
