After the floods, our church helped a lady who's house flooded.
Modest home, but nice.

As we're cleaning up she says this was the 2nd time it flooded, the first time being 30 years earlier.

She said she didn't have flood insurance b/c she didn't think it would happen again.

Ok...

Aren't these the same people that said they were leaving the country if Trump gets elected? This is a perfect opportunity to leave...

I get your point but do you think elites and celebrities give a shite about the common middle class?

This is interesting. A lot of people on TD think that people on the West Coast look down at Southerners. The truth is, they just don’t care. They don’t think about you. They don’t think about Louisiana … they just don’t care.

But people in Louisiana think about Californians because of monetary jealousy. Which I guess is understandable.

I think you should sympathize with anyone losing their lives, homes, personal belongings when catastrophes like this hit. A lot of people in that area aren't celebrities or mega millionaires and have lost it all. Some people have worked hard for what they have. In fact, we know 2. A good friend's daughter and her husband have a home in Altadena. They grew up with families of "average means", worked hard and were able to build a career out there. They aren't "elitists". We were on the phone with the mom last night.

They were evacuated, but the area's been decimated like a war zone. Even if homes are left standing, there's no infrastructure. Lives are forever altered. At least they're alive. Some aren't.

frick them, they don't give a shite about you. Why do they keep building in an area prone to mud slides, wildfires and earthquakes?

Oh, I don’t know. Maybe because of the beach, the views and 72 degree weather?

Why do you keep living in S. Louisiana with the hurricanes and tornadoes?

I'm jealous of the topography.

I've slung a Mustang and a M8 through Topanga Canyon (pro tip: get all the rental insurance they'll sell you) and it breaks my heart to hear how bad it is now...

This has global elites and immigration written all over it.

Maybe it’s because I doubt any of these folks blinked an eye when Harvey flooded Houston or Katrina devastated NOLA or Laura mowed over Lake Charles and SW LA.

Nah.

It's because populism has taken over both parties and at the crux of populism is class envy.

You're swimming in a sea of class envy these days. It's bound to rub off on you if you aren't mindful of it.

Yes, fighting it so hard that you thought you'd come blast your shameful opinion to hundreds of strangers. Keep up the good fight, pal.

The idea that Americans don't care about natural disasters disrupting the lives of other Americans is such a bad take. Get off social media, dude. Just because one idiot says something that gets blasted all over social media for clicks doesn't mean that one person is representative of the hundreds of millions of people who are proudly American.

LA sent a large Fire contingent to South FL, last year for Hurricane assistance.

Losing a home sucks and I’d never not feel sympathy for someone dealing with it

I feel bad for anyone but those A-listers have enough money to rebuild and surely have some type of opinion on how I voted. They are not coming to help any of us during a hurricane anyways

Yeah, they should have held a benefit concert in a sold out NFL stadium or something to help the people in western NC.

Oh wait

When in history did the ultra rich elites care about the people lower than them? What would be Bill Gates reaction if he was told your house burned down? Like George Carlin said it’s a big club and you ain’t in it.

These are the same type of people who cheered on a CEO getting murdered in cold blood. Screw them.
