Don't be afraid to leave and go somewhere else. You said you're a contractor but not if you receive all of the same benefits of the other employees.
Also for long term career success, learn how to say no and learn how to delegate.

Yes, I would work those sort of hours with no vacation unless I owned the business or there was an end in sight and a goal like an analyst program in IB.

That isn't excessive at all. In fact, it's the minimum.

You'll have a lot of OTers give you shite for only working 40 hrs/week. The truth is that we weren't designed to spend 40/hrs week at any one task/job. Take some time off and enjoy life.

Working for some of the large fortunate financial companies is a miserable existence. Been there done that. I have never seen worse managers than the ones I worked under. Maybe find a different field or a smaller company

And you'd be fired for that here for being inefficient
No, sounds like you'd be approached by management about working too much.

quote:

I've known salaried employees who have been fired for that. It ain't the time put in or the 3 An calls or the 9 m meetings on sundays, it's the unendimg stress and shite for days and days in a rw.

I'd fire you for this incoherent bullshite... I would give you the benefit of the doubt, and blame it on a late night, but a couple of your other posts don't have as many mistakes... So I guess you're just sloppy.

Anyway, sounds like you don't know how to get the job done and neither do your superiors. If you don't like it, find a new job.

In the meantime, quit being such a pussy.

I've worked 4x10-14s and at least an 8 for the last 48 weeks.

40 hours a week? That's chump change.

The reality if you don't like your job and that's causing depression.

Seek help. Depression if a rough mistress.

I challenge you to be a meat cutter.

There is a reason that's ONE of the highest paid positions in a grocery store.

When I had an office job (operations for an oilfield service company) I spent less than 40 hours a week actually in the office. But my "time off" consisted of working from home and answering the phone 24/7 no matter where I was. Many rounds of golf and dinners with the wife were ruined. Get up in the middle of the night and line shite up or troubleshoot a job 1000 miles away. Get 2-3 hours of sleep and still be in the office by 7 in the morning.

It wasn't too bad for a while but we had a stretch where our tools wouldn't work for shite. Ended up so stressed out it caused anxiety and depression. I gained a frick ton of weight and about fell out in a customers office while having a meeting about our issues. I had to get on some happy pills to get me back right. Sad thing is, I'm trying to get back into a job like that.

Take some time off if you're stressed out. The company will survive without you for a little while. That was my problem. My ego told me they would be fricked if I took some time off and my job would be harder when I get back. I was wrong and it probably took a couple of years off my life

You need to organize your tasks to not wear yourself out. Make yourself understand that you work 8 hours a day and bam, cut off the extra hours and weekends. You will end up on a psychiatrist's couch and on anti-depression pills.
Force yourself to take breaks for eating even if only 15 minutes. Stop occasionally and take a brisk walk and clear your mind. It is not easy but do it. I worked 43 years and had some years where I could have gone crazy if not for introducing change to the daily grind. Believe me, if you croaked, somebody would be forced to do your job.

Contractor in the investment finances industry? What the hell does that mean?

And by the way, all you W-2s that think you work hard have no idea until you're the one issuing the W-2s.
