Son has been invited to an in person interview in a week. Wage is very competitive as are the benefits but I’m sure they have to be due to location.
Any Ms Baws have any info on the his particular company?
TIA

The plant is about 1/2 way between Columbus & Starkville. Starkville is the better living location if he gets the job.

Yes, that is a very good employer in one of the best parts of Mississippi. Mississippi State is several miles away and that corner of the state has a good manufacturing base. They even have an airport. Come on up and visit!

Had a buddy interview there for I/E and he said the offer wasn’t good compared to the plants in SWLA

Well, we aren’t from LC or Sulphur and his search locally hasn’t been successful.
Head hunter called him and he zoomed interview with a manager today who wants him to visit. He’s 25 with 3 yrs experience, with OT and bonus he should six figures. That’s a considerable bump from working contract at chenier and no 1:45 hour commute.
Spank, you a Starvillian?
Would you email me @silverhookfishing65@yahoo so I can ask more ??

There’s a pretty good golf course in that area.

It’s a good plant. There is a neighborhood called Elm Lake on a golf course that is about five minutes away

Like others have said Starkville is about 15 minutes West and the university side is closer to the plant. There is another golf course community called Highlands plantation that has some reasonable rentals if you don’t mind some college crowd.

There is an airport close to the plant that has several Delta flights to Atlanta every day.

Good people around that part of the country.

Pretty good deer and turkey hunting up there if he's into that. Very fertile soil there in the Black Belt Prairie.

I’ve been in the metals business over 40 yrs. Their parent, Steel Dynamics is an awesome company. With brand new equipment, they are poised to dominate the aluminum industry. I have heard their wage is “good” but the bonus can be great. Would jump all over it if offered.

That golf course was grown up in weeds when I was there in 2010-13

I miss cowbells :( I was well known for fricking a chick on the dance floor in front of everybody

Downvoted because I have no idea what I&E stands for, and I really don’t like it when people use acronyms that aren’t super common knowledge across all segments of the population. Stop being lazy and type it out.

Starkville is underrated, wouldn’t hesitate to live there for the right opportunity. Nice place to raise a family.
