Aluminum Dynamics has invested more money in its Columbus plant than any company or corporation has spent in MS.

Starkville is a great place to live. Someone his age will fricking love it. Dude making 6 figures at his age can find a badass house in a great neighborhood and swim in co-ed pussy.

I work for a local contractor and we have people out there. I have been in this area for 30 yrs. Great place to raise a family. Local Airport has daily flights to ATL or Dallas. I live out in the country but if I had to do it again I would lie closer to Starkville. Columbus has issues that can be tiresome. From all accounts ADI/SDI treat their employees well and they make good money for the area.

I’m from Columbus but don’t have a lot of info on the company. I think they got started up after I moved off.

Absolutely without a shadow of a doubt live in Starkville over Columbus. Much more restaurants, bars, live music etc.

Starkville has had a bad reputation through the years but it’s not 2003 Starkville anymore. Last decade plus has been really good and it’s a fine little college town nowadays

What a pussey. Instrument/electrical is very well known and we do not distinguish between blue collar/white collar. That's demeaning to folks that work for a living.

I moved out in 2017, and thought it had been going downhill. Columbus has too though fwiw, probably at a faster rate than Starkville.

There is no way for someone to know what you are asking about (and for them to know that they are unfamiliar with whatever it is that you are asking about), until they actually open the thread and read it. So if you are asking for help from other people, do them the courtesy of not using cryptic acronyms that at least half of the population won't understand without looking it up.

I looked up the acronym just now. A large percentage, if not the majority of this board are white collar. Do you really think that the majority of white collar workers are going to have any idea that this specialized acronym that is used to describe blue collar workers that work in plants means Instrumentation and Electrical? Be more considerate if you are going to ask for help from others.

I am very white collar working for a major oil company and I have known what I&E is for most if not all of my career.

Maybe try not kicking the door open in a thread and being an a-hole from jump street because of your own ignorance. Is that what you do in real life when someone says something you don't understand? Lighten up Francis.

I konw a lot of guys at other SDI plants and they are generally well compensated and happy.

They also work their butts off but I can think of a much worse fate than being paid well to work hard.

Go do it for sure and wish him luck. This is a good path!

In what world is it going downhill? Starkville has been trending upward and Columbus has been going downhill for decades.

Schools have gotten a lot better, nice new neighborhoods being built around town, downtown has been revitalized, cotton district has exploded, new mixed use developments all over, Grant presidential library building in development etc etc

The one thing Starkville needs for a town of its size is a better hospital and there is some small crime bleed over from West Point/Columbus but pales in comparison to other SEC towns
