Again, like Slackster said, I don't know the protocols, they could have done it 100% by the book, but I don't think we can argue that what they did put themselves in much more danger.

But what situation puts citizens in more danger? Armed standoff where any twitch can set off a shoot out or trying to physically restrain the perp.

what exactly was he doing at the gas station again?

The owner lets him hock CD's and DVDs out front. Apparently he was a little over zealous in his selling techniques and used his firearm to strong arm some customers into buying his merchandise. They felt threatened and called cops. Cops show up situation escalates. They tase him he still doesn't comply. Then the video.

I can understand why he fought. He is a felon with a firearm and knows that he is facing time if they find it, which they would have.

I mean the course of action they took still resulted in the man's death, and at a minimum seems to put the officers in harms way more than staying at a distance would have done.
I'm definitely confused as to which part of this people are disagreeing with.

So a standoff with a volatile (he threatened others with the gun beforehand and pretty clearly resisted being tased multiple times) gunmen who at any moment could reach in his pocket and start shooting. In most cases haphazardly, with people in close enough range they could record it pretty clearly on their phone from a car nearby.
In fairness, if you think he could do that, you should already have your gun drawn. You kinda argued against your own point with that take IMO.

My question is, what exactly was he doing at the gas station again? Was this a dude trying to rob the place or is it a different situation?

He was apparently selling CDs outside of the gas station when an anonymous caller reported to police that he pointed a gun at someone and told them to leave the property.

Still looks like the cop that shot was trying to keep his arm away from his pocket...which contained the gun.

Thanks. Neither cam view really shows much detail (Quality of the camera). You can clearly hear a cop yell "Gun". My question is, what exactly was he doing at the gas station again? Was this a dude trying to rob the place or is it a different situation?
Selling CDs from my understanding, correct?

You're fricking crazy. That was a straight up execution at point blank range from what I could tell on the video.

But we will see how it pans out. I couldn't tell on the video but it didn't look like the dude pulled the gun on the cops. Looked like they found it on him, they said don't move. He blinked and the cop shite him at point blank range.

It most certainly is up for debate. If they draw their weapons and he is able to draw his before they can fire
I don't see how that is terribly probable.

one of the officers' is now in immediate danger.
And the route they chose didn't put them in immediate danger?

How are the protestors saying "Hands up Dont shoot." He had a chance to put his hands up and submit but he refused. So much error in their argument.

BR is gonna explode when its announced the officers actions were justified and wont face discipline. They will for sure have to move away from BR.

And this still gets me. Does anyone actually believe he was selling DVDs and CDs and had to be armed from all the money he made from it? You know damn good and well he was probably selling drugs and that is the reason he was armed.

I'd argue allowing him to stay standing, unrestrained after tasing him twice and knowing he has a gun on him and threatened people with that gun (which resulted in the police call to begin with) puts all of those people whose videos are showing up in a great deal of danger
I'd argue that tackling him also put everyone in danger, so there's that.

it sounds like sterling's gun might have been the first one to go off judging by how the officer rolls off of him and draws
