Is that punishable by death?

Not if he would have just surrendered and mentioned gun with hands up.

I wonder why this guy wasn't behind bars anyway.

Perhaps, but how is drawing your weapon on an armed suspect put us in more danger than tackling that armed suspect?

Probably because they dont want him to draw his weapon and be 100% forced to shoot him.. They were told he had a weapon but since they didnt see it and he wasnt compliant, they wouldve probably shot him for any action towards his pocket.. What then if he didnt have a weapon? by taking him to the ground they were trying to defuse the situation without gun play, the end result was a rare event that included the worst case scenario..

The police department and city will settle with the family.

Why should they "settle with the family" for anything? If the officers were in the right, then are we taxpayers supposed to give money to the family of every violent felon?

Common for the Triple S to allow locals selling products in their parking lot. Just went on Good Maps to find out where Triple S was and found this, not surprising. Was thinking I'd see big Alton too..

Because one day someone is going to falsely accuse you of a crime and you're going to resist the cops because you aren't doing anything wrong at all, and they're going to shoot you.

No, I wouldn't resist. I know that in the middle of the night or any other time is not court. Your time to challenge a False Accusation is in court. This is one of the many problems. Given his nice criminal history, he should be fond of the system and how it works.

His shift didn't start until later. He was probably busy adding on to that rap sheet.

Attorneys on my Facebook are saying he was shot in the back. Is that right? It looks like he was shot in the front.

do y'all think the cop said "he's going for the taser" or "he's going for the gun"?

I thought it was gun at first, but now I think it was taser. Sorry. Haven't been following this thread.

I shove you. You tackle me. You're stupid for having a gun as a convicted felon, and tried to pull it. I shoot you dead. I walk free because I feared for my life.

Here is a close up, the bigger male sitting on the crate looks like the male that was crying at the presser today.

Same here. You can see him trying to get up and lifting his head while they are holding him down. Unless the dude is a contortionist, he was on his back.
