I'm too lazy to look back too, but my memory says he was somewhat of a violent felon. Not rape violent, but not just a drug dealer either.
I'm actually against blanket laws that deny felons their right to self-defense, and definitely don't think the fact that he was a felon meant it HAD to end badly, but in this case he seems to have made a decision to not go back to prison without a fight and he predictably lost the fight.

It depends what you're doing and your proximity to the gun, but again, IF the facts of the case are as many assume they are, then I understand the shooting and it was justified.

That was the point of a few of us last night and where my questions about procedure come into place. If you knew he had a gun, tackling him and taking him to the ground escalates the frick out of the situation since he was simply standing there prior to the tackle (we don't know what he was doing prior).
