It's a totally asinine argument.

If they acted like you are saying, they would be criticized even worse. Drive up, draw guns, aim, and tell someone if your hands drop below your waist, we will shoot. Then, when he simply rests his arms, you shoot, and kill him. And people like you scream, "He was simply resting his arms!!!! He wasn't going for any gun!!!!!"

No, after they did everything else including tasing him. or guess what, another option would be to just walk up to him and grab his arms for an arrest like they do sometimes .

I can say this emphatically, tackling a presumably armed man is not protocol

Even still, backup, taser or pepper spray likely still results in a physical altercation on the ground.

The more cops the better.

Ignoring the shop owner and witnesses say how Sterling was acting. Of course, it is all "he was acting saintly" now

So maybe the cops felt they had to take him down.

I'm not sure how you came to this conclusion. He damn sure wasn't intent on being arrested.

because he didn't appear to be in great shape.

I am not sticking up for Sterling I just don't think is as clear as people on here want it to be.

It looks like he had his hands up, above his waist.

Probably due to the electricity running through him.

I forget that he was tazed, probably because he doesn't look like someone who just got tazed pre tackle.

People keep saying this, but we've seen time after time they roll up guns drawn in situations like this, but now it is a ridiculous proposition? I don't get it.

And how many times have they been chastised and criticized for doing exactly this. They were not 100% sure this was their man and he was armed. They treated him as unarmed first it seems

o, by not tackling him you're hoping for the least likely of the three outcomes with an understanding that there's a decent chance he reaches for a gun and you have to shoot him.

All true and fair, but the argument is that tackling him was even worse. You already admit that complying is highly unlikely, so once you tackle an armed suspect, and you don't believe he'll comply, your life is now in imminent danger. They miscalculated because they though they'd be able to restrain him. They were wrong.

Some of theach commenters on the live periscope feeds are pretty much trying to incite a riot and calling for death to the police. Freaking infuriating. Any excuse for a block party.

I just got around to watching the latest vid on Instagram. Wow.

Not sure what to think about it other than it is highly disturbing. I hate that things are the way they are.

No one has stated or even suggested that the cops roll up with guns drawn. However that might be the next step after being tased with the guy standing there, presumably armed. Again, tackling a presumably armed suspect is not protocol . If it is, we would love to see documentation

Do cops use pepper spray any more? Seems like you never see this... they tend to go to the tazer, which can be ineffective if a secure connection is not made. Seems like pepper spray can't miss.

Really? A situation where they don't even know if they person you are approaching is armed, and they roll up with guns drawn? I think you're making things up.

Every situation is different. Clearly, they didn't know he was armed when they rolled up. Cops don't automatically draw arms everytime the roll up. Do you get that?

I guess she took a break from eating to do a little standing up. I wonder how long before her legs give out.
