Maybe, but in that situation the cop needs to decide does he wait and see if the guy can get to his gun. I'm wondering, what would you do? It's not like cops don't get shot. So that would be going through your head.

Exactly. You don't think the family of the Jefferson parish cop that was just killed would have pulled his gun and shot quickly

So as soon as he was non compliant he was shot 6 times?

I havn't seen that video yet. I saw a idiot struggling with cops after they verbalized he had a gun and not to reach for it.

Then his TPOS instincts take over, according to our TPOS apologist, then he gets what's coming to him.

Can U link that other video?

What should they do Mr citizen expert? Hold his hand and beg him to be a nice little boy?

We see cops keep things upright in that situation and pull their weapons all the time. They took a non-lethal route the whole time, which is commendable, but then they tackled an armed suspect and couldn't restrain him. Maybe that was the right move, maybe it wasn't. It surely didn't leave much room for error once they're rolling around the ground with a giant, non-compliant man.

AGree. I think his instinct was to struggle. Clearly, the wrong instinct, given that he was straddled and had a gun.

I agree as well. Unfortunately, even if he was just following his instincts to struggle at that time he made a conscious decision before that to resist arrest and there was no more room for error from the cops perspective.

If someone is acting unrationaly prior to them being on the ground, they aren't going assume he will act rationally 5 seconds later when he is on the ground.

That's why the events leading up to them being on the ground and the back story is so important. You can't look at that short clip out of context, but I think that's what alot of the sympathizers are doing.

I honestly think that the cop with the gun accidently fired due to the struggle.

Why does he prop forward after the first shot? Seems like an odd reaction. Also cop rolls over top of Alton...towards the shot? Whole thing seems odd This post was edited on 7/6 at 8:42 pm

The only reason why they're rolling around with a 300lb man because he didn't comply with their orders,

No. There are many instances where people stand defiantly in the face of an order and they are not wrestled to the ground. The reason they where tussling on the ground is because the cops decided to grab him and wrassle. With that being said, I will state again that the shooting was justified given his resistance on the ground and the gun in his pocket . We know that if the cops would not have brought him down they would not be on the ground wrestling with him. If he had gotten on the ground, we do not know if the cops would have jumped on them and wrestling would have ensued. Again, still justified

Was this guy on parole? Just curious if it's one less vote for Hillary.

I assume it has something to do with his attempt to resist arrest while in possession of a firearm.

If he didn't resist arrest with a firearm, he wouldn't have got shot and propped up forward.

Anybody watching megyn Kelly? This black attorney talking about "hands up" & how it's just human nature to question the cop's command when u don't know what u did wrong. And then the best one. "The people of the community know he wasn't a bad guy". LOL. These people make me sick

So the cops know there is a man with a gun in the area, they see him and decide lets wrassle...come on, they told him to surrender, he didnt comply, they tried to taser him x2, didn't work and didn't comply, now what would you do next to a suspected armed man. Shot him? Attempt to Subdue? or just decide its not worth the hassle and leave the area?
And I will agree again the shooting was justified

That's what I am asking. That seems like a normal reaction to be shot in the chest and then prop forward?

I love that people are so in tune on Twitter that his name is misspelled. #AltonSerling
