how it's just human nature to question the cop's command when u don't know what u did wrong.

We see cops keep things upright in that situation and pull their weapons all the time. They took a non-lethal route the whole time, which is commendable, but then they tackled an armed suspect and couldn't restrain him. Maybe that was the right move, maybe it wasn't. It surely didn't leave much room for error once they're rolling around the ground with a giant, non-compliant man.
What do you think would have happened had the cops continued to order him to comply without attempting to tackle him?

His baby mama set him up. She called the cops. She knew he was a felon carrying a gun. She wanted him locked up for 5 years.

Adrenaline was flowing. He was shot. Threw the straddled cop towards the other (shooter) and raised up. That's where the shots to the back (off camera) came from.

What you're saying is I can walk up to the guy who hit my truck, punch him, kill him when he hits me back and be free of all charges as long as I can say I feared for my life. This is one of the dumbest things I've ever heard
If a reasonable person would fear for their well being then yes -- that's what I'm saying. Self defense on his part when he hits you back at first.. and after a certain point it becomes retaliatory and he becomes the attacker.

honestly think that the cop with the gun accidently fired due to the struggle.
That was my first impression

So the cops know there is a man with a gun in the area, they see him and decide lets wrassle...come on, they told him to surrender, he didnt comply, they tried to taser him x2, didn't work and didn't comply, now what would you do next to a suspected armed man. Shot him? Attempt to Subdue? or just decide its not worth the hassle and leave the area?
You back up a few feet, stand with your guns drawn, inform him that if his hands move below his chest that both of you will shoot. All while calling for back up. You don't wrestle a presumably armed man to the ground.
And just because some will misinterpret this, I will state again that it is justified.

His last name is like Qadaffi.

Yea, give the guy resisting space to actually grab his weapon. Great plan.

Come on Fox News...do you really have Mark freaking Fuhrmann providing analysis on the BR shooting? Could there be a worse candidate for analysis on this story? Seriously?

Who knows, but we know what happened when he was tackled to the ground, don't we?
If they stay up, at the distance they are in the first video, and draw their weapons to wait for back up who knows how that turns out, but if he goes to his pocket for his gun I'm sure they kill him just like they did after they tackled him.
Again, at best, it was a miscalculation and put themselves at a huge and arguably unnecessary risk.

quote:How much time does it take between brandishing and pulling the trigger? At any time during the encounter, it could be argued the cops were a millisecond away from being killed. Tip of the Day: When you're being detained by police, don't grab your gun.
"The source also told CNN the witness who called 911 said Sterling was "brandishing a gun," not pointing it at someone."
