I honestly think that the cop with the gun accidently fired due to the struggle.
Highly unlikely. He would not have put his finger on the trigger until he was ready to fire.

any number of things
Backup comes, maybe they get him with teaser clean this time or pepper spray, or maybe they defuse the situation.
Possibly, but didn't the try the taser already? Even still, backup, taser or pepper spray likely still results in a physical altercation on the ground.

or maybe reaches for the gun and he gets shot again.
Another possibility.

I'm not sure how you came to this conclusion. He damn sure wasn't intent on being arrested.

Better than the dude saying how alton's hands were up in the air

Yea, give the guy resisting space to actually grab his weapon. Great
Given that you have head start with guns are drawn, fingers in triggers, loaded, and pointed at him, it's a much better scenario than wrestling him to the ground . With trained policeman, 100 times out of 100 times if he goes for the gun he will be shot by both before his hands are in his pocket

You are a stupid frick. You make that demand and he drops his hands below his waist and they both shoot and kill him. If that shite is on video liquor stores and rent a centers would be on fire as we type.

Do we know why the first cop tackled him? It looks like he had his hands up, above his waist. I agree with LSUTangerine in that it seemed stupid for the cop to try and tackle that big dude when the guy has his hands up.

You back up a few feet, stand with your guns drawn, inform him that if his hands move below his chest that both of you will shoot. All while calling for back up. You don't wrestle a presumably armed man to the ground.
Just goes to show you have no earthly idea the protocol they follow. Hint: This isn't it, for any PD in mankind that I'm aware of.

Room temp. Where is "up here"?

Probably due to the electricity running through him.

His hands were up, not above his head, but spread Eagle out. He was tackled because he did not comply to get down.

It does appear that he didn't mean to fire but once he did there was no turning back.
This is the fault that should fall on the officers. They should never have tackled this dude if they knew he had a gun. Then he draws his gun 5 inches away from a violently struggling man? I'm sure that isn't taught in the police academy.
He's lucky he didn't shoot his own partner or himself or anyone else in the parking lot

But it's protocol to wrestle an armed man to the ground.? Link it up.

Who knows, but we know what happened when he was tackled to the ground, don't we?
So your argument is that because we don't know what would have happened had they not tackled him, the tackle was unnecessary?
I've said this before and I'll repeat. There's three possible scenarios if they don't try to tackle him:
1. He complies and is arrested. (Given his failure to comply both before and after being tackled, I'm going to go out on a limb and say this is the least likely outcome)
2. He reaches for the gun and is shot.
3. He runs and is eventually tackled anyway.
So, by not tackling him you're hoping for the least likely of the three outcomes with an understanding that there's a decent chance he reaches for a gun and you have to shoot him.

If they would have backed up and shot him dead, you'd say "yea, tackle the armed suspect who is 300 pounds. Great plan."
ETA: You, like many others, are willing to support any action the officers took as long as the end result was a justified shooting. They're beyond reproach in your mind.

Room temp up here in Virginia today is 70.
Outside is pure hell 90s with 90 percent humidity.

His finger is on the trigger from the time he pulls his gun out.
That cop was scared as shite. Alton was a big arse dude and gave them all they could handle.

No I wouldn't, but you've been doing nothing but slinging shite at the wall all day hoping for something to stick.

In his case, they absolutely are. Deal with it.
