They handled the situation flawlessly.

Ehh...

The only reason they're rolling around struggling with a 300lb armed man is because they tackled him and miscalculated their ability to restrain him. That may or may not be an issue depending on their protocol for apprehending armed suspects.

This ain't even going to court.

It's funny, at first I wanted it to be handled correctly. Now I want no charges just to piss off the "community activists".

I'm not going to say it was malicious because I understand he was armed and things happen quickly. But I do think it was a poor decision.

Honestly, I've said the cops were probably justified a lot ITT earlier today. But that video...I just don't see how he could have gotten to the gun. They are both on top of him. I think they feared he could, and I get that, but they made a huge mistake. Unfortunate all around.

Maybe, but in that situation the cop needs to decide does he wait and see if the guy can get to his gun. I'm wondering, what would you do? It's not like cops don't get shot. So that would be going through your head.

The BLM cant even listen to their own chants.
Hands up dont shoot?
If his hands were up they wouldnt have shot.
Reach around and have a gun in your pocket? You get shot!
Were his hands up? No!
Did he get shot? Yes!
Simple rules....

I just don't understand why he didn't get down when they commanded him to, and even after they tased him? Why was he out at 1am selling illegally-pirated DVDs and threatening others with a gun? None of that justifies murder, but the police showed up looking for an altercation, and he gave them one.

Yeah. It's almost like they are incredibly stupid or something.

You're right. Resisting multiple times and illegally carrying a firearm are some pretty poor decisions.

I know you have already stated that it was justified but I want to make the point that Alton sterling had many opportunities to avoid the situation where a subtle hand movement could be construed as reaching for a gun. The events before that escalated the response to his hand movements.

AGree. I think his instinct was to struggle. Clearly, the wrong instinct, given that he was straddled and had a gun.

Yea, you right.

Get a call about a dumb frick threatening people with a gun.

Show up on scene and confront the guy. He's non compliant.

What should they do Mr citizen expert? Hold his hand and beg him to be a nice little boy?

The instinct of a fricking TPOS

The whole damn thing I'd the ones they have any sort of leg to stand on they don't rally around for some reason (doesn't fit their narrative) and any thug they find (who they never cared about before) that they can try to pin on a false narrative they bring in the regional liars.

Curious, innit?

Why does he prop forward after the first shot? Seems like an odd reaction.

Also cop rolls over top of Alton...towards the shot? Whole thing seems odd

I can see where they were afraid.

But he was clearly resisting with a weapon. You and I would be dead in the same situation.

Well maybe not me, the guy is twice my size, I prob would have been out before I had a chance to resist.

The only reason why they're rolling around with a 300lb man because he didn't comply with their orders, most likely because he was armed and knew his life was over one way or the other with the rap sheet he had. So would you rather they shot him standing up or tackle him and try and cuff him? he made his decision and so did the officers
