We don’t build up per pay period. Instead our vacation resets on Jan. 1. when you get your full vacation allotment for the year. You have until the following Dec. 31 to use all of it except for 5 days that can be carried over to the next year. On years I carry over, which it’s looking like I may do this year, I’ll have 30 days the following year. If I don’t carry any over, I’ll have 25 days.

We used to do that but stopped after our company was being purchased. Someone more qualified can probably correct me but something along the lines of PTO that was granted had to be paid out if unused when someone was laid off and they let an entire department go so that started with the accrual method to avoid that in the future.

I get 4.6 hours every two weeks. Adding up to 15 days a year. I make 5 years this year so I will get an additional week. I average 3300 hours worked a year and if I choose to take off on a Friday after working 12s all week, they pay me OT for Friday hours. Never worked for a company that would do that so I think that’s cool.

Always negotiate time on the PTO ladder. Almost every HR will bump you up years even when they are hesitant to bump pay.

I always rejected people who asked for additional PTO. I am hiring you to work, not to vacation. Asking for more money was fine but I was looking for someone who wanted to work, contribute, etc.

I didn't take much over the past two years, so Iam going to use 2-3 months this winter.

My employer doesn’t use vacation accrual, and doesn’t track used PTO.

15 days vacation, 3 sick days & 6 Holidays. I do have a decent amount of schedule flexibility if I have something I need to take care of during the week without burning PTO. As long as we are not busy I can also take as much unpaid time as I I can afford.

9.67 hours earned per two weeks, but I'm currently at my max of 272 hours, so I've got to take some or I lose it.
