I checked Wafb and WBRZ and neither has a mention of the camera footage. Where did y’all hear/read that?
Sylvia Weatherspoon said the police have surveillance video of both the shooting itself and an SUV speeding away during their 10:00 pm broadcast.

Why is this not on anyones website yet (not questioning you just want to read the whole story)? Seems like kind of a big deal. Would suggest the witness got some things wrong. Which would explain why they were not in a hurry to talk to him.
The news doesn’t even acknowledge a witness. I heard them say at 10:00 about the suv but besides that they don’t mention it again.
No mention of a description of the suv. Just total shite show with the local media in this.

Something about the witnesses story doesn’t add up to me. The witness said the train was stopped and the 2 perps went and climbed between the train cars to get on the other side of the train. When you listen to the shoot spotter the train is clearly moving at a steady pace when the shots happen. Maybe the the witnesses timeline is off a little but those 2 pieces of info clearly conflict with each other.
He said it was ten minutes after the perps crossed that he heard the gun shots. So, maybe after the perps crossed the tracks, the train started moving which is why he stayed at the tracks hoping it would clear the intersection and he could be on his way.

It is possible Witherspoon had a very poor choice of words... All she said was that a surveillance camera captured the shooting and a vehicle speeding off. This is true and we already know this.
If you recall, the audio of shooting and vehicle peeling out was captured from a surveillance camera footage in the area. This has already been released... I believe the video from the camera was not released by the owner of the footage to protect the identity of the home or business from being targeted.
The fact that Sylvia Witherspoon quickly said this statement in a 3 minute rehashing of "old news" makes me believe she had a poor (but technically accurate) choice of words. Think about it, if there was video of the actual murder, it would be a huge story.
Now she did say "SUV" but again I think she simply said that because her preceding sentence mentioned that Rice was driving an SUV.
Just trying to help y'all stay on track despite the media's poor coverage.

If BRPD has not pulled video footage from every private camera within a quarter mile of the crime scene, shame on them. They should be cross referencing all camera footage against LPR cameras and rapidly creating an increasing ring of video coverage. Once that video is lost, it can never be replicated. I have seen police do some pretty amazing things by pounding the pavement to obtain and scrutinize video footage.

It sure would be nice if BRPD got in front of a microphone and answered some questions. The problem is I don’t trust our media to ask the right questions.

I hope the investigators can find some video from surrounding businesses. Seems like an easy thing to track down for our resident Barney Fifes

It's pretty simple...
"Do you have any leads"? "If so, how many shooters"?
"Are you close to making an arrest"? "What kind of gun was used"?

Like waiting on a train to start moving. And then there's fatigue and the fact that assuming 2 people in that car they were likely talking in some manner, which will also distort the passage of time.
He said it was ten minutes after the perps crossed that he heard the gun shots. So, maybe after the perps crossed the tracks, the train started moving which is why he stayed at the tracks hoping it would clear the intersection and he could be on his way.
We humans mark the passage of time by noticing outside factors such as the sun rising, something routine such as the school bus showing up, or a clock. If they weren't watching that clock nothing externally was changing and one way or the other their passage of time is skewed.

They’ll listen to the opening remarks and then ask stupid questions about the details that don’t matter.
“Did you say it was a quarter moon?”
“Was that waxing or waning?”

The witness said "not even 10 minutes" passed between when they climbed through the train and when the shots rang out.
Doesn't conflict, but Kiran should have made him commit to a stricter timeline.

I’m astonished that she used the word “sabotage”‘incorrectly. Just guessing here, but I bet she has at least one degree, and considers herself intelligent ; yet she can’t use big words correctly.

At my last job, I worked with at least 10 women in a tiny office. All of them had degrees. I did not. At least four could not spell, or use grammar correctly. The worst one supposedly had a degree from Texas A&M. I understand the LSU marketing majors not being well educated, but I always believed the A&M degree was fake.

Several years ago a similar shooting occurred in Jackson - pretty white girl stopped at a traffic light late at night was shot in the head and killed. JPD arrested two fine, upstanding, future scholars in a matter of days. Granted, a jury of their peers only convicted them on attempted robbery charges, but JPD did their jobs.

The story could have gotten jumbled before it reached Kiran. Remember, no one is giving her this information she is having to dig for it. The official statement from the witness could have been slightly different.

Shot 10x? Sounds like an angry ex.
And what the frick is an attractive white woman doing out in Baton Rouge at 2am?

I've always known the train was stopped. My great grandfather built the railroads. He taught me how trains work by taking me on the railroad tracks behind his home. He showed me the signal system, etc. Because I was there a lot, and the train ran night and day in the 70's, I am a bit of a pro at train noises. That clanking noise you hear in the audio is the train stopping. ( before the shots start)

Exactly. I don’t even care about the witness statement outside of the fact we have confirmed there is more than one perp. If there is more than one perp it means they aren’t going to be able to keep their mouth shut. I bet one of them didn’t want it to go down like that and if we turn the heat up enough that guy is going to talk.

I'm not. I just relayed a situation that would explain the stopped train he mentioned and the fact that the recording indicated that the shots were fired as the train was moving.
Maybe this was intentional as the perps were using the noise of the moving train to mask the sound of the gun shots.

I checked the WBRZ replay website. Curiously The video labeled the 10 o'Clock news is only rerunning the 9 O'Clock news and there's no mention of this at 9.
