Middle son had the dairy allergy, has grown out of it but still doesn't like milk or even ice cream. Doesn't really eat dairy.
Rest son had the egg allergy, along with beef. He has grown out of that and loves steak now but still won't eat eggs unless baked into stuff.
With nuts and shellfish and a few others, you don't grow out of it, in fact it usually gets worse the more times you eat it. And sometimes mannifest itself after eating that food for years.

Yea, I'm afraid that is what I'd run in to if I switched now. He is used to the almond milk, and that is what my husband and I prefer to regular milk, so I haven't made the switch.

I dont think this is necessarily true. I was allergic to shellfish well into my 20s. I was retested last year and am no long allergic.

Roundup and other pesticides plus overuse of antibiotics destroying our microbione and stomach lining.

I have this. LINK
It’s basically typical hay fever/pollen allergy that crosses over to a similar protein that is in raw fruits and vegetables and nuts. It’s a mild allergy.
quote:
OAS is not a separate food allergy, but rather represents cross-reactivity between distant remnants of tree or weed pollen still found in certain fruits and vegetables. Therefore, OAS is only seen in people with seasonal pollen allergies, and mostly people who are allergic to tree pollen.[2] It is usually limited to ingestion of uncooked fruits or vegetables.[2]

My son’s school wants to ban anything with peanut butter (my son’s favorite snack) for their mid morning snack even though they aren’t allowed to share anyway because two kids out of 600 have an allergy. Screw that. I haven’t changed a thing and won’t be.
Wow what a self centered way to view things. So your precious darling son simply cannot wait to eat his favorite snack at home... and even though the chance that snack may kill another child you say screw that.
Talk about raising pansies...
Me: Hey kid, you can't bring your peanut butter to school because it might kill Johnny
My Kid: ok
Life goes on, end of conversation.

Right, peanut allergies can be really serious. Daycare doesn't allow any peanuts in the whole center.

I would be very very careful with that, especially if it was the blood test.

Yes, and why most airlines if not all in the US no longer pass around peanuts and most kitchens (definitely school) are nut free.
Plus with the number of PB substitutes now, there should be no gripes about not allowing it for your child's lunch.
If my child had a serious allergy and the school nicely asked the other parents to please refrain from sending that item, and some dick dad said "nah that doesn't apply to me"... nope. I hope his child never has some issue that he needs the support of the other parents in his school for, because karma can be a bitch.

agreed - my wife's celiac is bad enough that a simple bread crumb can put her int he hospital, and if she god gluten poisoned bad enough, it could kill her.
just having a bread crumb touch her skin cause it to turn red and swell a little.

Won't be his kid that does it, it will be him. And here he is on a message board with thousands of posters admitting that he's doing this shite.

My 3 yo son has a severe peanut allergy. He has an epipen handy at all times. We found out he was allergic by accident last summer. He grabbed a couple peanuts and put them in his mouth then spit them out saying they burned. Went into shock and had to rush to the hospital. He was in and out of consciousness. Nearly lost him...because of peanuts.
I say that to say, if some ignorant parent says “f it” to the no nut rule and something happens to my son, I will hunt them down.
But you do you

Same position and I will kill in retaliation.
With that said, I'm lucky, mine are allergic to the protein so they can be around it and have had beaten into their heads since they were little to don't share food and to ask if it has nuts if given something. Because of their type of allergy, we can have PB in the house and me, my wife and youngest son can eat PB and shellfish no problems.

Yeah screw those kids and their mortality.

All the damn antibiotics. Not that they are bad, but it's in food and its overprescribed.
That effects how bodies work and fight things.

I never have quite understood why other kids cannot bring peanut butter to eat for themselves. So long as they don't share their food with the kid who is allergic to it wouldn't it be ok? Or is it an airborne or smell thing too?
While peanuts themselves present a hazard with the dust and airborne particles, there isn't a protein exposure from inhalation of peanut butter...so it is a contact/ingestion concern only.
