re: All of the hate that NOLA gets is unwarranted.

Lived by NOLA for almost a decade and have lived about a decade by Houston.
Preferred the NOLA I knew then to the Houston I know now and not even close. But now, Houston easy-peasy.

Good point. the Reising bread is really sets New Orleans apart from Paris, Barcelona, NYC, Bangkok.

Oh, we found someone that likes Teedy. How wonderful now, go back to Compton.

And as far as crime is concerned, is Houston any better? Houston is basically NOLA but without the advantages:

>Lack of "economic development". This sounds bad on its face but is actually a blessing in disguise.
The NO ruling class was making this argument in the '50s
The 1850s, to keep the railroads out

It’s not a secret. Everyone living in BR at that time said it. And it just kept getting worse. May not be the only reason, but a big one. Houston hates us too for sending the Trina Trash there.

Since you’re semi-retarded I’ll help you a bit. Here’s a quote explaining what people mean:
"In America, there might be better gastronomic destinations than New Orleans, but there is no place more uniquely wonderful. So I would say New Orleans. With the best restaurants in New York, you'll find something similar to it in Paris or Copenhagen or Chicago. But there is no place like New Orleans.” - Anthony Bourdain

I never have to travel outside of a five mile radius to get anywhere I need to be. Compare this with driving hours to get across, say, Houston or Dallas
Many people in those cities never have to leave their "village" or suburb, if they don't want, and it is all within about 15 minutes, just for the record.

Houston (and TX in general) is 100x better than Nola/BR. I have more of my LSU friends here than over there and for good reason. The jobs pay better and it’s more fun for young professionals. Nola is a shite hole. Rice Military/Heights is very nice, affordable, and SAFE compared to anything in New Orleans.

I fricking love this place.

I lived in NOLA for 11 years and while it is a unique place for cuisine, it's laughable people on the this thread are calling it the best in the world.

Would love to know what part of NOLA you lived in that this was the only food available to you.

>Baton Rouge has a massive inferiority complex in relation to anything New Orleans
Maybe 30+ yrs ago. I don't think that is as true anymore.
Now Laffy has an obsession w/BR, even tho just about everyone agrees its a much nicer place to live than BR. I don't know why that's not enough for Laffers.

Yeah, what’s funny is I grew up in VA for the first 18 years of my life so I’m not partial to either. I’m just very aware, as well as all my friends are, that New Orleans sucks

Your plastered Bourdain quote proves my semi-retardation and you win the argument.
Well played.

Couldn’t agree more…to visit. Not to live. Much prefer the diversity of the larger cities such as Houston for day to day. And NOLA for a weekend.

You're a fricking idiot. Maybe get in the car and drive? New Orleans has pretty much all of that. Houston is just the size of an entire state. Have fun driving 2 hours to eat
