All incoming freshmen should attend community college this upcoming fall

There's no reason to pay the crazy tuition prices at a major school if majority of the classwork is online.
One of the man reason kids want to go to a large college straight from high school is for all the fun.

States are starting to open all over the place. Why the hell wouldn’t young kids be able to attend colleges in 2+ months?

Honestly it depends on the program and the school. And whether those credits will actually transfer in or whether you'd lose your spot in that program if you try to transfer in later.
If you're just Joe Schmo majoring in a pretty broad major at a state school, then absolutely.

I agree, but there has been some talk of online school only.

I know. And I actually agree with that to an extent. Paying 10’s of 1,000’s of dollars for online classes is probably not the wisest investment, especially for undergrad.

Ultimately, people need to start calling bullshite on this over reaction. There is zero reason for continued social distancing or mask wearing. The numbers absolutely do not support it. There is no reason to consider cancelling classes in the fall or playing football in front of 20% crowds. It's fricking dumb.

Most schools have announced Fall classes will be online or blended online.

The universities I've seen in the south seem to be going towards in-class instruction with a modified calendar (no fall break, campus closes after Thanksgiving break).

Where? Most I've seen are talking in person classes but just letting everyone know they may have to shift to online in the case of another outbreak.

Especially your first year. They would be able to start knocking out your non-major electives

This is the year to have been applying to universities you wouldn't have otherwise not gotten into. Elite colleges are going down the wait lists because kids are staying out.

This.
Also if you can defer it then defer your admission
I’m in the boat that if you got into your school don’t turn it down.
You never know if come the next semester they take away your acceptance or you don’t get in because your community college was shitty or the next wave of applications were better

But if you have scholarships at the “big” school and take classes else where, you run the risk of losing the scholarship. At least that’s what happening at my kids school.

This.
I’d only do the semester of community college if
My school was full online
My school deferred my acceptance to the next semester
My school honored my scholarship

We were told any credits from anywhere in a fall or spring semester would cancel her scholarships. She is taking classes online this summer that her school has approved and will accept.
