Go up to a mountain or something where you're not surrounded by touristy assholes and you can spend some meaningful time together.

Avoid Sandals - Nassau. Wife was in a wedding so we had to go. Property was a dump. Restaurants were awful. And Nassau is a huge tourist trap.

I'm sure there are some nice all inclusives out there but this wasn't one of them

We had all inclusive in Jamaica and would go back in a heartbeat. It was a great time. I think it was called the Jewel Dunn resort or something like that.

I've heard good things about sandals. I would avoid any place with the possibility of screaming brats.

Nothing kills the mood like hearing little Johnny son of a bitch screaming when you're balls deep in your new wife. (At least I hope it does)

Good question...it's not until September 2016 so we haven't decided. Bought our plane tickets just the other day.

Any suggestions?

I got married at the end of January. We did Sandals in St. Lucia. Definitely recommend getting a butler. Also whichever island you choose, look into taking a helicopter ride to the resort. I surprised my husband with that, it was fun and cut our ride to the resort to only 15 minutes instead of an hour/half car ride

I was in Hopkins and it was pretty nice. Heard good things about Ambergris Caye too. We drove down to Placencia for the day and would prefer Hopkins over it. All in all it was awesome.

One thing to look out for is the rainy season. We went at the end of November and it rained/was overcast at least half the time, which was a bit of a buzz kill.

Your opinion is valid. It does depend on your situation. Personally, when the wife and I got married, we barely had two pennies to rub together and no one was paying for our honeymoon. Our income was my crappy 26 year old no college degree income alone because she graduated college a month before we got married. Honeymoon was 2 nights in Pensacola.

Now, heading into our 5th anniversary, we have tripled that starting income and are going on a huge trip this summer to celebrate that 5th anniv. I feel as though this trip will mean much more than a honeymoon because we earned it together. Layoffs, 2 kids, moving from our hometown to BR for my job, having to find another job for her and it taking a while, etc.

This trip will be that much nicer because we worked for it. Just my two cents looking back on 5 years ago. Honeymoon was a blip on the radar compared to everything else.

iberstar is the hotel line i would suggest. Go with the grand collection (thegrandcollection.com). You will not be disappointed.

food was amazing. As good as many of the best restaurants in Nola/Houston. Also top shelf liquor. One night when the vp was at the hotel they served johnny walker blue in the cigar bar which is like 300 a bottle.

I stayed at the one in Jamaica, but all look nice.

Realize if you are a guy who get bored laying on the beach all day these kinds of trips can get boring. We did a bunch of excursions and they were awesome. Also plenty of shopping at local markets at some of the locations outside of Jamaica.

oh and don't listen to those that say its trashy or don't do it. ALl inclusives are awesome if you spend the money and do it right.

Just did some quick research and this is what I got:

In the south, there may be more than 150 inches of rain per year, while in the north, it rarely rains more than 50 inches per year.

You're best bet may be the islands in the north. Hopkins has mountains right by it so I'd imagine that was a major factor for the amount of rain we got.

Did Playa de Carmen was great had zip lines, snorkeling, rappelling, and other stuff included. Whiskey dispenser was next to the hot tub in the room. 7 days and I never spent any time in the room unless I was asleep or screwing. Just make sure kids are not allowed that was the best part.

Went to Playa del Carmen in Mexico for my honeymoon. Most relaxing vacation I've been on.

Fair enough. Just giving blanket advice not to splurge on a honeymoon isn't always fitting for everybody. My wife and I didn't have a lot of savings or high salaries when we got married, but we splurged pretty good on our honeymoon. We still look back on that trip as one of our favorite trips and it had minimal recourse on our financial health long term.
