Who from mandeville is going into Nola for work? It’s less than 20% my friend
It's not just people with jobs in the Nola borders. That's not what I said.
I said:

What about jobs created by the Nola economy?

Wait, what?
MSAs are stupid. I learned this when I learned how much Baton Ruge tries to claim as it's MSA

Nola should claim more
BR should claim less

I consider Tennessee part of the Deep South.

And the population of the city limits has actually gentrified, greatly, the last 15 years.
It has...and somehow most of Atlanta has managed to maintain some vestige of the culture of Atlanta. It is unusual. There are sooooo many neighborhoods ITP now which still feel like Atlanta but are also great places to live it is shocking to folks like me who were born and raised in Atlanta. Usually when gentrification happens the feel is lost....and it has been to some extent....but it is still there in most of those neighborhoods. It has also made the outlying areas ITP better places to live. Atlanta still has issues but it is greatly improved compared to the 70s and 80s. I loved it then though...I thought the sun and moon rose and set in Atlanta..I would not move back on a dare now LOL. I love to spend a 3 day weekend in Atlanta 7 or 8 times a year but I don't think I could take it now on a daily basis....and that is probably normal....seems to be in most major cities, folks love it when they are young and ambitious...make their mark or not and move to the country LOL....

Find me anywhere in this thread where i said they “want” to claim it

I actually don’t think it’s a terrible thing that Mandeville/Covington and parts north are forming their own “city” as it were.. I remember thinking almost 20 yrs ago after the Storm and the levees failed that it wouldn’t be a bad idea to “rebuild” New Orleans , but just do it on the other side of the lake.. i realize you will always need to keep some infrastructure in New Orleans proper just since it’s a valuable port.. Was there any talk of doing that post-K ? I remember there being talk of relocating most of New Orleans to Baton Rouge, but I don’t remember hearing talk of relocating NOLA to the Northshore, although that’s exactly kinda what is happening on its own .

Bro, what we have here is a failure for you to understand basic communication.. i totally understand where you are coming from, believe me- but i have failed at helping you to understand very basic truths of what the average Mandevillian says when out of town/out of state.. that’s on me, and that’s ok .

Atlanta also has the highest percentage of black people moving in

Funny because most ppl I know commute at last 3 days per week. All white collar jobs. You’re overestimating the WFH deal…

I get it, but then you'd basically just be doing a Dallas-Ft Worth thing, which is still considered an individual MSA

The traffic on 190 from the causeway is getting less and less during rush hour over time, yet more people are moving to St. Tammany.
Don't know how much is WFH, but commuting to and from the southshore is not what it used to be.
If it wasn't for the airport, I'd almost never cross the lake.
Also, no one outside of New Orleans cares if you actually live in the city or not. It's a point of reference.

Comparing Atlanta to New Orleans is akin to comparing Sweden to Somalia.
Let’s try this, it’s much more accurate: “Comparing Atlanta to New Orleans is akin to comparing South Africa to Somalia.”

New Orleans and Birmingham are two bonafide shitholes that are losing population because they are ready for it.......shitholes.

Ummm they just expanded the interstate. There is your reason. 190 traffic north and south bound during rush hour is still insane. Also, causeway traffic is at an all time high from what I understand at 40,000 vehicles a day.

Huh? Mandeville and Covington are just across the bridge from NOLA. I have always considered both of them, as well as Slidell to be part of Metro NOLA. Hammond not so much as it is about 40 miles out. The Greater NOLA area will always be limited by how much it can expand because of all the water and marsh land.
