Mandeville people are very proud NOT to be from New Orleans. They aren’t going to claim it

I hear what you’re saying, I think we just experience different things.

What makes you think people from mandeville want to claim Nola? We aren’t here to save money like Metairie or Kenner residents. We are here because we want nothing to do with Nola. You aren’t going to hear mandeville people saying they are from New Orleans. You are simply wrong my brother

But that makes zero sense

The Northshore should 100% be considered in Nola's MSA. Why wouldn't it?

What about jobs created by the Nola economy?

I work in McDonough. (Technically Luella).

And speaking of growth, I was at West Forsyth High School yesterday. That county had 40,000 people in 1997, it now has 267,000

But for as much as it's grown, there are still some country elements up there. It's pretty.

We lived in Dawsonville for about 18 months in the early 70's. We had bears in the yard...bastards would not stay out of the garbage cans. My wife and I recently rented a cabin between Cleveland and Smithgall Woods and drove up there from Buckhead. When we got to Dawsonville I didn't realize we had left Fulton County LOL, not to mention Hall County.

Cat 5 hurricane then a cat 2 hurricane hitting in 2020....might have something to do with it...just spit ballin but about 99.99% sure that is why.

LC was growing before Hurricane. Lost a bunch after...been kind of stagnant last 2 years ago.

Also those huge industrial expansions are winding down and those workers are leaving. Our population was way inflated like 2016-2019

And I know its been predicted for years but losing the GreenJackets Stadium to North Augusta was a wake up call for Augusta

Yeah I think that was pretty embarrassing for the commissioners in Augusta, N Augusta pulled off quite a coup there. N Augusta has done a pretty good job on that side, the golf course they have, The River, is pretty damn good and the entire development there has been well done. Hopefully the officials in Augusta are shamed enough to respond properly

I can see Slidell and Mandeville counting. What is weird is that Marrero, Harvey, and Westwego don't count in NOLA Metro.

Outlying areas are included if at least 25% of the workers living in the outlying area commute to the city or if at least 25% of the employment in the outlying area is accounted for by workers who reside in the city.

So I guess the north shore recently dropped below 25%. I'd imagine that this has and will happen to numerous cities.

Yep. I’d be surprised if Mandeville is even over 15% people commuting to Nola currently. I don’t see it ever getting to that 25% threshold ever again

North Augusta has, in my opinion, always been very nice, but the area around the stadium now is on a whole other level.

Augusta could be Aiken nice on a grander scale if it weren't for corruption. Outside investors will eventually slow that down. There is WAAAAAAAAYYYYYY to much cheap real estate in Augusta for outside investors to stay out of the fray much longer and the kings in Augusta don't have the resources to keep them under their thumb. Augusta National is currently making major changes....I think that could be a major catalyst coupled with the medical complex growth. Imagine how much Olmstead would be worth in any other city in the south LOL.....or the River Walk??? Its going to happen soon....there is too much money to be made for outside investors to continue to stand pat.....

Find me anywhere in this thread where i said they “want” to claim it .. i never said that, I’m saying that out in the real world, they DO claim it…. Two totally different things… but as i said before, this is a free country so you are free to believe any old thing you would like to believe .
