From what I recall it wasn't an issue with having a real gun instead of a fake. The problem was they used the guns in their downtime for target practice and the ammo got mixed up in the armory. The gun was loaded with real ammo instead of blanks. Baldwin never cleared the gun, did not check to see what it was loaded with, was playing around himself with it as they were not actively filming the scene, pointed the weapon and pulled the trigger as he was clowning around between sets.
Wow. I don't think I knew the details about using the gun with real ammo in their spare time.

Gotcha. Did they say who brought the real, loaded gun onto the movie set instead of a fake prop gun?
The buck stops with him.

He was the producer who hired a sadly unqualified weapons handler because she was cheap and would do what she was told.
We all see what you did here Mr. Baldwin.

The dumbass DEI hire armorer is more to blame but ultimately Alec pulled the trigger
Hannah Gutierrez-Reed didn't get the job for being a woman, she got the job for being the daughter of longtime armorer Thell Reed. Nepotism, not DEI

Can someone give us a quick rundown on specifically what he did wrong? Haven't kept up with this... TIA
But what the prosecutors are going to try to prove is that:
1) He should have unloaded the gun and used an expertise he did not possess identify which rounds were dummies and which were live. Then reloaded the gun. Things that are against the rules on a movie set once the armorer provides the prepared gun.
AND
2) He recklessly pointed the gun at Hutchins. Even though he was pointing the gun at an unmanned camera (as directed) and Hutchins was watching through monitors which were set up 20 feet behind the camera but directly in line.
They were going to try to pin him with responsibility due to his producer credit but the judge threw that out yesterday.

As I understand it, yes.

I'm pretty skeptical that's going to be their line of prosecution.

He shot and killed some one.
I am conflicted on this one. He is an actor and was acting a part when he shot someone. Actors do this ALL the time. I have to lean towards the prop person being responsible for this.

I mean he definitely isn't guilty of murder, and the armorer is more to blame. But he legitimately may have some cause for concern for some areas of negligence.

False. Proper procedure is for him to get the gun from the armorer who will verify it’s safe. He didn’t do that, he took it upon himself to grab the gun on his own, not check it, point it at another human and pull the trigger.
He broke every safe gun handling procedure. Guilty.

This has been verified 100%? For some reason I was under the impression he did get it from the armorer.

I don't share Baldwin's political beliefs, but how many politards want him convicted because of his politics?

Wouldnt the melt be great if this a-hole went to prison and Trump walks free and gets reelected.

Somehow this fiasco will Trump’s fault.

Any idea if it's normal on movie set to use real guns?
Yes it’s normal to use real guns on movies sets. There is supposed to be an armorer whose job is weapon safety. Actors mostly don’t know shite about guns and don’t have to. There is a professional on set to make sure the guns are safe.

Like any tragic workplace accident, Baldwin and his company will be (or maybe already have been) found liable for negligence and be cast in judgment for the full amount of damages. It's a sad case, but that is the likely outcome.
