Yeah, I avoided blackout drunk as much as possible. Just get to sleep drunk was enough for me.

Have had hundreds of them that should have done it. Hell I was homeless for 3 months and still kept going hard for four years after that. It's a hell of a thing hating yourself and it's even more hell when everyone you care about most frickin hates you too. Very thankfully and fortunate to be 9 months sober and as happy as ever been.

I tried my best to keep about a .06-.12 at any given time. Usually worked fairly well, but sometimes it got off the rails, obviously.

I never was an alcoholic and probably won’t ever stop drinking completely but I’ve stopped doing other party substances I did in my 20s and I drink way less frequently

Mostly because I’m married, and that shite hurts the next day and 2 days of feeling tired with brain fog sucks arse. It’s just not fun like it used to be. Now I only have drinks one night a week and usually in bed before midnight when I do.

Basically I don’t feel as good while doing it and feel worse the next day so it’s no longer worth it to me

Drinking and doing cocaine just to sober you up enough to keep on drinking. Hell of a thing.

I finally hit rock bottom and realized it. I was sick and tired of being sick and tired. I realized I may die the way I was going.. stopped cold Turkey. No meetings or nothing.

I was drinking so much those days that if you firmly grabbed my arm it would bruise

I was in the hospital once for pancreatitis. They did an ultrasound of my liver and said it looked bad. Doc said if I continue, I'll die soon, pissed me off badly enough to check out and go get a drink.

I knew I had to tire of it, then I would quit. I just got to the point I was tired of kicking my own arse every morning.

After being involuntarily committed by the coroner for the third time, I stopped drinking.

I got a DUI, parked and knew I was too drunk to drive, still got a ticket. Blew a .22. Thats about as drunk as I would ever get. though, I am positive i drove drunk many times.

I liked being drunk enough to make bad decisions, but not drunk enough to black out and not remember them. Lofty goals.

I, like a lot of people, have identified with those Lofty goals.

It’s a bit comical, but it’s not.

My son being old enough to text me. “When are you coming back”?

Wife texts make you feel guilty. Kids make you feel like absolute dogshit.

And the hangover anxiety. Hangovers became 2 day events. Just not worth it.

I want to show my children a better way. That drinking beer every day ain’t necessarily normal. Gout, that shite hurts, and I can’t be a cripple because I’ve got to coach em both up for a juco ball scolly.

Just quit, you can do it.

I was a pill head for about 12 years. One day I woke up after bingeing high doses of Xanax for a few months and felt absolutely nothing. No sadness, no anger, no joy, no pain, nothing. I thought to myself what’s the point of living if I’m going to feel nothing if I don’t stop using. I got my hands on enough Percocet, Xanax and bourbon to make sure it would do the job. I’m so thankful I reached out to someone before I made that final decision. I spent a week in a psych ward and never wanted to feel that way again way again one I got out. I sought out help and work hard everyday to make sure I’m there for my baby girl as she grows up.
