Why can't they cut the 4 ft tall grass out of the cracks of the concrete medians in Ascension Parish?

Don't forget the perpendicular cross lanes with no turn lane so that cars have to come to a complete stop in the left lane.

Mostly this. Also, a lack of connectivity of surface streets. To go roughly north/south to or from Ascension Parish, it's practically the only way outside of the Interstate and Perkins. It's one of only two routes across the river. One of the other major thoroughfares of the city merges into it only to merge out of it half a mile later, but that still means that 5 lanes of traffic condense to 2 for a bottle-neck before splitting back out to 4. It's insane.

Or anywhere else for that matter. While true that most La municipalities and DOTDs are short on manpower and funding. The stronger reality is good old fashioned "could-give-a-f@ckness",

As you can see the workers taking extended breaks, and never using the weedeaters strapped across their mowers rear racks, not cutting down trash trees, nor trimming around street signage, edging the curbs, sweeping up road debris, nor weeding the sidewalk cracks. It's as if their bosses are afraid to demand better(if they actually give a sh!t either?)..they might lose their underpaid workers?

Allocating highway tax dollars to other fires for retarded states like La is just a fact, has been my whole life. If you need to live somewhere where they give a sh!t aesthetically about the place..best you be looking to NC, Colo, etc..

An civilian adopting an abandonded piece of property for a mercy cut, or cutting a blighted city parish sidewalk nearby, a needy cul-de-sac circle, etc..

Such spruceness, that's for boring squares and saps in Texas, Ga,etc..Louisiana guy has a need to be in a bar getting his drunk on! Besides, he pays his taxes and keeps his yard cut at least once every two weeks, it's the city parish that should cut that 4 ft tall dandelion out of the crack in the sidewalk to his front yard, they own it..he's leaving it there to remind them when they come..if they ever.

In my opinion, this is the single biggest issue for traffic and public safety on Airline Hwy. either all crossovers should get turning lanes, or all without turning lanes should be shut down. This needs to happen.

Not true. I drive Causeway to I-10 all the time, and never an issue.

Uhh, highways most certainly have traffic lights. LIMITED ACCESS highways do not.

When do they plan on starting? It was hit and shut down around October or November and the only thing they have accomplished is putting up jersey barriers and road signs.

It's not so bad. It has plenty of fast food stops. Also it's pretty easy to get from LSU area to Southern using it as the main route.

Even some interstates have traffic lights
quote:

I-70 uses part of US 30 along a surface road in Breezewood, Pennsylvania. Traffic traveling eastbound on I-70/I-76 must exit and travel a short distance on US 30 in order to continue south on I-70 heading to Hancock, Maryland. (The routing is similar for traffic following I-70 in the opposite direction: traffic traveling north on I-70 must exit and travel a short distance on US 30 in order to continue west on I-70/I-76 or to enter the Pennsylvania Turnpike.) This is probably the best-known instance of traffic lights on an interstate. There used to be a sign of a policeman pointing at drivers leaving the Pennsylvania Turnpike to enter US 30, saying, "You! Slow Down!" Local businesses have lobbied to keep the gap to avoid loss of business

I know this area. There's a 3/4 mile section where where you have to cross if you want to continue on I-70. All the businesses there are older, with small setbacks and big pole mounted signs....but the area is very clean. If you are going east bound on I-70, you actually have to make a left turn.

Just another weird thing that PA does.

Airline Highway can actually move traffic with a little TLC. It needs to be widened (with a wider median) and some of the lights need to be removed. An overpass over the rail road tracks at Choctaw is a must as well.
