I can see this is a very sensitive subject for you.

Have fun going on your luxury vacation to the Florida Gulf Coast.

Maybe you can grab me one of those 30A stickers for the back of my car next time you're there.

I can see being too broke to enjoy the finer locations for a beach vacation is hard for you. But keep telling yourself (and your family) it's not that great.

As a beach house owner on the west end of Galveston I can tell you the issue is solely the nightly rate. To get the return you want you have to set the rate high but your occupancy will be low. Drop your rate and you attract the real winners of the world . I see it with my neighbors every weekend . They stay about 80% booked but man is the clientele is rough !

Come on, man. Its the nicest beach in the entire world! You're just too poor to know that.

I've only been to Rosemary and on the actual beach and water it doesn't get much better. Once you are off the beach it is so damn upity it takes away from the overall experience.

I assume the rest of 30A is that way.

Plus the times I have been are late August once most of the crowds+kids are back in school. I cannot imagine what it looks like in June/July.

Senate Bill 15 — a top priority for Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick, who leads the Senate — would reduce the amount of land cities require single-family homes in new subdivisions to sit on. The idea is to reduce the final cost of new homes by allowing homebuilders to construct smaller homes on smaller lots. The bill cleared the Senate by a 28-3 vote.

This bill should just be named: Turn Texas into Orange County, CA Bill

Imagine thinking buying an Airbnb in Galveston was ever a good idea

Galveston is by no means great but the boardwalk is okay. We stayed at a really nice AirBnB two years ago as a 3 day weekend thing from DFW.

Port Aransas does have better beaches when we went there last spring break.

I honestly don't see how yall afford that.

They don't pay state income tax and their car insurance is HALF of what it is in cities like BR and New Orleans

I was wondering about this. Is Galveston even worth visiting anymore?

totally get what you are saying, but its driving distance for millions of people. The fishing is actually really good. Tons of wildlife (I have peacocks that roam my neighborhood.) and even with brown sand, the beach is still the beach.

On weekends when I'm down there I pack some cocktails in the golf cart and spend a few hours on the beach before dinner. At night if we have friends visiting, we have bonfires. Its pretty nice.

We love LaKings, Katie's and the hotel with the rooftop bar. We take an adult trip at least once a year.

I love Galveston. Only 2 hours away from LC. Anyone trying to compare Galveston to 30A is just silly.

Galveston is nice for a night or two getaway from Houston. There is a decent food scene and a few nice resort hotels like the Galvez and San Luis. I don’t get the hate at all.

Actually, I’ll be spending 4th July in Galveston. I’ve never been there and the pics don’t look so bad. I’ve been to 30A but I just wanted to try something new this year even though it’s levels below. Sometimes you just want to try street tacos even though a prime rib eye is generally the more desired and higher status food.

Destin attracts a rougher looking crowd than in the 90s (maybe fewer people were fat and had tattoos then).

But Having driven through Galveston and had lunch on a spring Saturday , there are some interesting looking characters down there visiting.

But please name some nicer beaches. It has ultra white fine sand. clear shallow waters along the coast. Nice deep blue water near coast. Please...tell me what's better

Croatian Islands immediately come to mind.

Sardinia's black lava beaches are nice too.

People who are attracted to. Miserable hot place with warm salty bath water as a respite! I’ll pass!
