I currently have a doctoral student researching this topic and how people's views (especially iin areas tied to trust and decision making) can be manipulated by the AI,
Why this is important is that people begin to "trust" the AI with the belief that it has their best interests at heart, when in truth it is just a computer program that can (and will) be manipulated for product placement and sales.
What is going to be more interesting is how to use this AI companion agent to converse with Alzheimer's patients and other facets of dementia.

I don't understand the point of an AI girlfriend. You don't get a companion to do stuff with outside of the house (dinner, bowling, movies, live sports, etc), you don't get a +1 to social events (parties, family events, church, networking functions), and you don't have sex. Instead, it's just someone listening to your problems like a therapist, but enabling you like an ai chatbot, and it can sorta flirty text, I guess? I just don't get the appeal unless it's just as the forerunner to robot girlfriends, which make at least a little more sense.

Trim your hair and beard, shower daily, treat women like regular people (don't put it on a pedestal) and ask them questions about themselves. It really isn't that hard, but you have to want it. Single women your age (early 40s) are through with the bullshite and just want someone who isn't a total douchebag like their ex husband.
