AC is the best invention mankind has ever conjured up. There are those who will extoll the virtue of the wheel or fire but without AC who needs a fricking wheel and who wants to live long enough to need a fire?

Heat is unnecessary even in extremely cold climates. Getting out of the elements is all that is needed to survive. Not being able to escape heat and humidity is not healthy at all. There is a reason that civilization progressed faster in direct proportion to distance from the equator. Even at the north pole there were surprisingly complex cultures and societies which thrived in one of the harshest cold weather climates on the planet....because its easier to do so.

Just an anecdote but there are very few places colder than Peachtree Street in Atlanta in February on a pan slab 20 stories in the air. It is just miserable. I have worked them....you get off from work and you aren't warm again when it is time to return to work the next day. That said, I have also done the same thing in August and it is very possible to be so cool on the commute home that you can cut the grass or go fishing....if your truck and home has AC you will be back to normal in an hour or so. Heat NEVER does this....you will be chilled until April.

The human body is around 98 degrees. It only makes sense that we are more comfortable around that than say 50. If it were 148 degrees it would be deadly, it doesn't get that hot. Most ACed spaces are around 72 degrees and are comfortable. No sane person would be comfortable at 118 degrees. AC is closer to our comfort zone.

I am a little bit on the cold natured side. When it gets really cold I am really cold and nothing feels better than being freezing cold then finally getting into a warm area.

Also, its more common here to be hot as hell then come into the AC so maybe I don't appreciate it as much,

But what does feel good is being outside, sweating then going inside and drink cold water,

Coming in from a freezing day to nice warm central heating.

When it’s cold outside and you can’t feel your hands and that damn wind blows, you can feel the devil biting your arse.

The cold can go to hell.

I hate extreme heat worse than extreme cold so a/c.

But after a day of winter skiing hitting the hot tub and a fire is hard to beat.

So it’s a draw I guess. But if we’re talking about just typical Southeastern weather. A/C all day long.

Easily, coming into a warm place after being cold.

If you think otherwise, you likely have never really been cold. Being hot is uncomfortable. Being truly cold is something else entirely. You can exist in an absurdly hot place and not die. You cannot exist in an absurdly cold place without warmth.

That feeling you get on your skin from the cold air when you've been sweating is outstanding.

As someone who used to wear glasses, the instant fogging is a pain in the butt and having to strip off layers of clothes when it is -15 outside is also another thing that people overlook.

coming in from the blistering cold to warmth. im not talking bout chilly LA december weather.

im talking bout northeastern blizzard icicles hitting you in face cold. coming into a warm house from that is the best.

This board is mostly Louisiana, so all will default to A/C because they've never been in 0 degree wind chill.

However, 0 degrees is 72 degrees from room temp. 100 degrees is 28 degrees from room temp. That's a 72 degree delta vs 28 degree delta.

I'll put it this way. At 0 degrees, you'll be running to get into the Heat. At 100 degrees, you won't be running to get into the A/C.
