Bumplestillskin

Obviously the solution to two non-residents coming in and murdering two people is to disarm the entire complex so this thing can definitely happen again with no resistance whatsoever.

I would be thinking long and hard about moving out after that email.

Also, I noticed they finally hired a new GM (The last guy was a complete shitshow)

This is retarded shite and I would move it out w/ the quickness.

Are they saying that their lease prohibits residents from owning firearms?

Anyone that signed that is just as dumb as the people enforcing it. Why move into a place that makes you sign your rights away?

I would keep your guns anyways...what are they going to do? evict you? They are hurting for residents as it is...

why kick out paying customers when they are so hard to come by as it is?

It would be a really hard thing to argue on the part of the mgmt company IMHO. I mean, it is YOUR residence once you live there a certain amount of time. They shouldn't be able to dictate what goes on inside unless it disturbs other residents. Hell, they even have to take you to court to evict you

But if you agreed to it as a term of moving in, they can argue you broke the agreement andnkick you out. It's dumb, but whoever signed it brought it on themselves.

Of course they can. It's a stupid arse rule and a more stupid arse response to something like this, but they can certainly do it as the property owners, as they can enforce any other number of restrictions on renters.

Somebody needs to go through the lease and figure out some things that aren't banned in the lease and start prominently displaying them for protection. Like putting a sign outside your door saying "Since I can't protect myself with a firearm this area has been enforced with land mines. Walk at your own peril".

Or start walking around the complex carrying a samurai sword in one hand and an axe in the other.

Yes. The problem with that is that nobody would sign a lease that required it.

I would think the lease could be terminated. That's BS to me.

If it said in the lease that tenants signed that it's against policy that's one thing. They can't just add it on later.

Fwiw every apartment I've lived in has banned guns. Never once has an employee come into my house looking for my guns. I'm sure as long as you don't go walking around the place with your glock in your hand no one will say anything.

TL;Dr just be a normal responsible gun owner.
