Stating you are not allowed to have firearms in your residence.

Gun free zones just work so great don't they. I'm sure this guy would have just turned around at the gate if he knew guns were prohibited on the property...

You probably shouldn't post that online. You're letting the thugs know residents won't have protection. well, except for those courtesy officers.

That's a pretty lame arse response IMO. Unless there's more to it, there should have been more of an attempt to alleviate the fears vs. telling folks to "abide or else".

There was a little more saying it was a tragedy etc. Then it moves on to remind the residents they are stripped of their ability to protect themselves.

Good to know no one will be armed when I break in now.

I lived in the Cottages and we had no idea we weren't allowed to have guns.

Idk. I'm no lawyer, but I'd imagine signing the lease agreement may allow them to enforce it. It wouldn't stop me though.

I'm no lawyer either but I really doubt they could enforce that legally. In California landlords can't even stop you from putting up burglar bars, much less a constitutional right.

They own the property. If they dont want guns in their apartments, im pretty sure they legally can ban them in their housing.

Maybe idk. Could they require you to keep your door unlocked? The way I see it there's an overlapping area where they have a right to control their property and you have a right to protect yourself.

Ok. Sounds like they can ban guns. Thanks for the link.

So is this the equivalent of "if coach would've put me in..."?

Just wondering when one of these arguments is going to come to fruition? You, nor anyone else in the complex, would have stopped this event.

I know I wouldn't have. I don't even live there.

Just pretty shitty they bar residents from having an option to protect themselves. Ah, but stupid me. If it's against the rules of course the criminals will leave their guns at home next time.
