James Spann, Birmingham TVs bigtime chief meteorologist, who happens to retweet photos of sunsets, hail, tornadoes, beach and mountain scenes to the tune of probably 100s a day, offers this good advice.

This goes for all of your worldstarhiphop posters, too.

When Spann has his red suspenders you better be ready for some rough weather. Respect the Polygon!

The landscape video capture ship has sailed. Time to find something else to bitch about.

James Spann is no better than any other weather man. He had a cult following but beyond than he is nothing special. Still misses more than he hits

His ability to handle severe weather outbreaks calmly and rationally is fairly unique. He gets the point across without being hyperbolic.

There is no one more dedicated, passionate, well studied or harder working. I mean, he's human... but so is Nick Saban. James Spann loves the shite out of some weather.

Looks like snow on that map.

James Spann is awesome. I lived in Birmingham from 1998-2008, but a lot of my childhood weather memories involved him covering tornadoes. When he said get in a basement, he meant it. It’s hard for my Louisiana friends to understand because we don’t have basements and not even tornado sirens.

Absolutely incorrect.

Not only is he a genius in actual meteorology, he has been one of the driving forces of revolutionizing how meteorologists cover weather events. He was a pioneer of wall-to-wall TV coverage and has handled numerous major weather events, including the largest tornado outbreak in recorded history. He was also one of the first meteorologists to heavily use social media to disseminate weather information and to recognize that meteorologists have to go beyond just doing weather on the TV.

Furthermore, James Spann loves Alabama. He loves the people of this state and he wants to serve them. He is dedicated to making the warning process for severe weather better and helping people develop safe habits during severe weather.
