Got the following advice many years ago. Served me well.
Unless she is stealing, begin the process as soon as possible.
1. Tell her that she will have time to find another job - 30 days should work.
2. Yell her to take time off for any appointment that will help her in her job search - she does not need any further permission to miss work for appointments of any kind.
3. Let her use any company copying and mailing supplies she may need for her job search.
Tossing them out the door is tempting, but the price to be paid down the road can be steep.
And talk to a bona fide employment lawyer. good luck.

Never allow a lame duck employee to remain. They will do more damage to morale and potentially to clients.
Plus they no longer identify their own success being in alignment with the success of your company.
Escort her off the premises immediately.

Btw, give us the juicy details - what’d she do?

If you have a reason then frick her.

Get a go pro, a big pile of chicken wings, and a big plate of chocolate chip cookies. Put a sign on them saying “For clients only, do not touch.”
Then, let nature take it’s course. Fire her for stealing

Even talking about possibly firing an AA female makes you racist.
The fact that you are white business owner with black employees makes you racist.
The fact that you think she is an angry black woman makes you racist.
It’s the years of hardships, she has faced as a black woman that made her get mad at you and you should understand and be empathetic

Just make sure you have a check ready for whatever she is owed through the day of firing so you don’t end up getting sued for penalties/atty fees for nonpayment of wages.

Not every black person who gets fired cries racism. And certainly not all of the ones that do file a lawsuit about it.
That’s a pretty dramatic take.

Downsize - eliminate the position.
Then when you rehire, do it under a different title.
Eliminate her title / position is the cleanest way to do this.

Not needed. Shake machine is broken.

Just terminate her. You don't need a lawyer. This is also coming across very racist, fwiw.
This shite's not racist, it's fricking reality. The mountain of shite you have to collect to fire a black person far exceeds that to fire a white person and that's just the way it is.

I agree with others who have suggested deleting this post. Nothing good can come of it if litigation results from her firing.
Do you have any employee handbook or other employee guidelines that have been distributed to her along with her signature agreeing to accept and follow them? If not, simple insubordination may not be enough to fire her. Always, always, always get signatures of them agreeing in writing to employee guidelines in writing.

It's not a "dramatic take" at all. False allegations of racism have intimidated HR departments all over the country, to the point where there are "off the record" policies when it comes to the firing threshold between blacks and whites. The threshold for firing blacks is higher, it just is.

You should never bring. Serious matters here, ask professionals

Get them to quit so that you can avoid hits to your unemployment insurance.
This is the best general advice I can offer
