my wife and I rescued out Ridgeback Corgi mix - she was confined to a Crate that was too small for her, and was kept in her own filth. for the 1st 3 month of her life she was never taken from the crate and left in there.
best decision we have ever made - she is an obnoxious little shite, but GD she completed out home - even likes our cats :)
so I say we rescued her - anyone thinks otherwise can frick off with a rusty metal dildo

Shelters have to make $ too, there are a lot of dogs that you will never see up for adoption that have to be taken care of until their fate is determined
If they are aggressive or have an issue that deems them unadoptable they are still fed until the vet comes to put them down
I do agree that some of the rules they have to be able to adopt are excessive

the adopt a dog crowd is extremely self righteous
look if someone wants to pay for a dog that meets what they're looking for, then let them. But they have to run in every dog thread screaming at people to adopt

i've bought dogs and i've rescued dogs
good dogs are good dogs no matter how acquired
however, every time it occurs to me what good dogs my four rescues are (all street pick-ups), it makes me feel like a better person for doing some small good in providing these animals with a good life and a place to be safe
you wont find me preaching about it, just pointing that out as an added bonus of adoption

That’s awesome. My cat hadn’t been eating much lately so I took her to the vet last week for a checkup. She’s always been small so if there’s a problem I want to know as quickly as possible. He did blood work and thoroughly checked her out. She got a clean bill of health other than slight arthritis in her hind legs. I hope she makes it to 22.
